Mattress was good
The room had carpet on the sides of the bed and then tile and the rest of the floor. I'd take a nap with my shoes still on hanging over the bed and after I woke up I took my shoes off and stepped in the carpet and my socks were black and soaking wet

Top Tips
- Book Clayton hotels 45-60 days in advance to save 18-25% compared to typical last-minute rates. Prices usually rise within the final 30 days, especially near event periods or holidays. Compare rates between refundable and non-refundable options to confirm the best fit.
- Expect a total tax rate of 12.5% added to advertised hotel prices in Clayton, including 6.1% state, 1.0% county, and 5.4% municipal tax. Check your confirmation for the full breakdown, as it is standard practice in Missouri.
- Hotels along South Brentwood Boulevard or Forsyth Boulevard are within 8-12 minutes of MetroLink lines, reducing total transit to downtown St. Louis to approximately 18-22 minutes. Verify walk times on your map to confirm suitability.
- For high-speed Wi-Fi, choose downtown Clayton hotels such as Four Seasons Tower or Drury Plaza, which report average in-room speeds of 210-280 Mbps. This bandwidth supports video conferencing and streaming on multiple devices.
- When paying with a foreign card, decline dynamic currency conversion (DCC) and opt for USD payment at the front desk. This typically avoids 3-5% hidden markups added by the DCC service.
- If step-free access is required, explicitly request it at booking. Up to 40% of rooms in Clayton’s pre-2000 hotels may have partial ADA non-compliance. Review your confirmation and call the front desk for details if needed.
- Show appreciation by tipping housekeeping $5-10 per night, leaving cash visibly on the pillow. This aligns with Missouri hotel norms, and clear tipping can encourage responsiveness for extra service requests.
- MetroLink-adjacent hotels are in high demand during Saint Louis University graduation (mid-May) and peak courthouse periods (Q2, Q4), when rates may spike 30-40%. Book at least 90 days in advance during these times.
- Hotel parking in Clayton may run $15-25 daily. Some hotels, including Drury Plaza, charge $5-10 extra for in/out privileges. Confirm these fees to avoid unexpected costs depending on your usage needs.
- Bring a reusable water bottle as St. Louis County tap water is EPA-compliant and safe to drink for most visitors. About 70% of mid-range hotels do not stock complimentary drinking water in rooms, so plan accordingly. Guests with sensitivities or health conditions should confirm water suitability with their provider.
- For lower ATM fees, use machines inside bank branches such as Bank of America or Regions, usually capped at $2.50 per withdrawal. Hotel lobby or convenience store ATMs often charge $3-5 per transaction.
- When booking, request an allergy-friendly room if needed. Three Clayton hotels - Four Seasons Tower, Drury Plaza, and Homewood Suites - formally disclose hypoallergenic bedding or advanced air filtration in select rooms.
