Top Tips
- Book hotel rooms 7 to 30 days early for events at North Charleston Coliseum & Performing Arts Center (capacity ~13,000), as rooms near the venue fill quickly during major events. Check the cancellation policies to retain flexibility if your schedule changes.
- Select hotels near Charleston International Airport (CHS) if your flight arrives late or departs early. Many offer complimentary 24/7 airport shuttle service; call the hotel upon arrival for prompt pickup.
- Stay in Park Circle for affordable lodging and fast access to a variety of local dining options. There are over 15 restaurants and bars within a 0.2-1 mile walk of most hotels, providing a casual and lively neighborhood atmosphere.
- Prepare for nightly parking fees downtown, typically $25-$45 USD; complimentary parking is standard at most North Charleston and airport-area hotels. Confirm the latest parking rates at booking, as they vary by hotel and season.
- Estimate $20-$35 USD one way for rideshare or taxis to reach the Charleston Historic District (roughly 10-12 miles away, 20-30 minutes by car). Confirm pricing in advance, especially during peak travel periods or special events.
- From June to November, hurricane season can impact travel plans, with risk peaking August to October. Favor refundable rates or secure travel insurance to protect your booking in case of weather-related changes.
- For quieter stays, request hotel rooms facing the interior courtyard or away from I-26 and rail lines. These transport corridors are near many North Charleston hotels and may contribute to noise disturbances.
- Historic and converted hotels may offer variable accessible features. Confirm step-free access, visual alarms, or specific ADA room requests by contacting your hotel 48 to 72 hours before arrival, as modern chains and airport hotels typically meet current ADA standards.
- Late-night dining options outside Park Circle and the airport area are limited, as most restaurants in these neighborhoods close by 10:00 PM. Plan to dine earlier or use hotel restaurants or delivery services.
- Choose chain business hotels in North Charleston or near the airport for reliable Wi-Fi and on-site meeting rooms. These properties generally provide business-class Wi-Fi speed; verify conference amenities with your hotel if you need dedicated workspace.
