Bed was comfortable. Our room was up to date, although a huge shower tile near the drain was standing on its end and leaning against the wall instead of lying on its side.

Top Tips
- Book at least 4-6 weeks in advance for peak events such as the Germantown Charity Horse Show in early June or the Germantown Festival in September, as rates in these periods can rise by 30% or more due to high demand. Compare rates across weekdays and weekends for possible price differences.
- Select your hotel location based on your main activities. For a quieter atmosphere, look for options within 0.5 miles of Germantown's Municipal Park. For quick access to Memphis landmarks like Graceland, approximately 12 minutes by car, choose properties near I-240 or along Germantown Road.
- Germantown has limited public transit, so rental cars or rideshares (Uber, Lyft) are the fastest way to reach Memphis attractions, which are typically 10-20 minutes away. Confirm if your hotel provides airport shuttle service from Memphis International Airport (MEM) before arrival.
- Many hotels in Germantown offer complimentary on-site parking, but some may charge $15-20 per night for valet or reserved spots. Always confirm parking charges directly with the property before completing your booking.
- For business travelers, verify your room includes a dedicated work area and high-speed Wi-Fi. Speeds of 20 Mbps or faster are common. Test the connection on arrival and request a room change if connectivity is inadequate.
- If traveling with kids, ask about family amenities like connecting rooms, suites, free breakfast, or pools. Reserve cribs or rollaway beds in advance, as quantities may be limited at most Germantown hotels.
- When bringing pets, check hotel policies for size and breed restrictions as well as extra fees, typically $15-100 per stay. Confirm available pet-friendly areas and outdoor walking zones before booking.
- At check-in, you’ll need a valid government-issued ID and a debit or credit card matching the reservation name. Expect a refundable hold, commonly $15-100, to be placed on your card for incidentals.
- Room rates are subject to Tennessee state sales tax (9.75%) plus a 3-5% Germantown or Shelby County lodging tax. Review your bill for these added charges prior to check-out.
- All Germantown hotels enforce no-smoking policies for indoor spaces. Outdoor smoking areas are usually designated onsite. Smoking indoors may incur cleaning fees of $150 or more. Ask where smoking is permitted if needed.
- Quiet hours are common at Germantown hotels, often starting between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM. Limit hallway noise after these hours in keeping with local expectations for a restful stay.
- Tap into staff knowledge for dining recommendations. Local favorites include barbecue or farm-to-table spots, all usually within 2 miles. Also inquire about potential guest discounts for attractions like the Memphis Zoo or museums.
- For outdoor recreation, request a room near Wolf River Greenway or Shelby Farms Park trailheads. These areas offer walking, running, or cycling options within 2-3 miles of most hotels.
- Store valuables—such as passports and electronics—in your in-room safe, and keep luggage or shopping bags out of sight in parked cars. Vehicle break-ins can happen. Check that your hotel’s parking lot has security features.
- Follow U.S. tipping norms: $1-2 per bag for bellhops, $2-5 per day for housekeeping (leave daily), and $2-5 for valet services. Carry small bills for convenience.
- If arriving before 3:00 PM or departing late, request early check-in or late check-out in advance. Properties may accommodate based on availability, sometimes for an additional fee of $15-50.
- Choose refundable rates if your plans aren’t final. Non-refundable deals are cheaper but allow no changes after booking. Review cancellation policies to avoid fees.
- Most pandemic mandates are lifted, but cleaning and masking policies can vary by hotel. Call ahead to confirm current health protocols if you have specific preferences.
- Join the hotel’s loyalty program to earn perks like complimentary breakfasts or late check-out, and ask about price-match policies if you find a lower rate elsewhere before booking.
- Solo travelers should opt for hotels in central Germantown with round-the-clock staffed lobbies and choose rideshare service for night-time trips instead of walking.
- Positive, polite communication with hotel staff reflects local Southern hospitality and can help with special requests or recommendations. Engage the team for a more personalized experience.
