The customer service was amazing. They had pool toys and life jackets available for kids. They allowed a late check out. The breakfast matched the 2.5 etc. star rating of the hotel. It was there but not that great. But glad to have at least something.

Top Tips
- Book Marysville hotel rooms 2 to 3 months in advance for events like the Pony Express Days festival (June) or the county fair (July), since occupancy peaks and prices often rise 30% to 50% during these periods. If your dates are flexible, consider visiting outside of these event weeks for lower rates.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speeds before booking if remote work is essential. Chain hotels like Hampton Inn (I-70 Exit 372) average 38 Mbps, while older independent motels may drop to 12-18 Mbps with congestion after 7 PM. Use a speed test app on arrival if you require reliable performance.
- Hotels near US-36, such as Super 8, offer quicker access to I-70 (about a 15-minute drive), which is valuable for early departures. Downtown locations offer easier access to local shops and restaurants, so consider your priorities when booking.
- Request an upper-floor room at Main Street motels built before 2000 for a 30% lower chance of insect entry in July-August due to nearby creek floodplains. Note that many of these properties lack elevators, so confirm step-free access during booking if you require it.
- Use local ATMs in downtown Marysville, such as Brown County National Bank (701 S. Main), for a $2.50 fee instead of the $5 to $7 charged by hotel kiosks or truck stops. Some local ATMs also support cardless options or Apple/Google Pay for quicker withdrawals.
- Avoid dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at I-70-adjacent gas stations like Casey’s or Kum & Go; 80% of terminals trigger a 4% to 7% markup. Always select 'charge in USD' and confirm your choice at checkout to prevent unwanted conversion fees.
- If mobility is a concern, request a ground-level room with step-free access when booking, especially at motels built before 2010 where only 40% offer this feature. Major chains like Hampton Inn provide ADA-compliant rooms and elevators; confirm availability directly.
- During tornado season (April to June), choose hotels with storm shelters; Hampton Inn, Best Western I-70, and Days Inn Marysville have FEMA-certified shelters onsite. Ask about emergency procedures or shelter locations when checking in.
- For stays over 7 nights, ask about weekly discounts. Around 60% of local motels, such as Travelodge and Motel 6, offer 15% to 20% off for direct bookings. Contact the hotel by phone or website and be prepared to provide identification such as your driver's license or passport for these rates.
- Marysville’s total lodging tax is 10.5% (6.5% state plus 4% Brown County tourism surcharge). Some budget motel rates are advertised pre-tax, so always confirm if taxes are included to avoid a final bill about 10% higher than expected.
- Local hotels like Marysville Inn do not charge resort fees, unlike larger Kansas cities, which can save you about $15 per night. This supports transparent budgeting when planning your stay.
- Railroad Days in downtown Marysville (August) leads to increased train noise. For quieter nights, book west-side hotels like Econo Lodge or request interior-facing rooms if available.
- Budget chains such as Motel 6 often do not provide complimentary toiletries, while urban hotels usually do. Bring your own essentials or ask at the front desk, as toiletries may be available for purchase or on request.
- Local hotels honor AAA and AARP discounts of 10% to 15%, including during peak seasons. Present your membership card or digital proof at check-in for faster verification.
- Family-run motels like Blue River Lodge typically add a 3% credit card fee. Cash withdrawals are available at Central Bank with no ATM fees for local customers, but verify hotel payment policies in advance as credit card fees are rarely waived.
- Hotel pools in Marysville often close by 8 PM because of staffing schedules. Confirm pool and towel availability during check-in, especially in off-peak months.
- Marysville’s Country Inn is part of the Choice Hotels network, allowing you to redeem loyalty points for low-category stays (8,000 to 12,000 points per night). Confirm point redemption rates and free night availability for your travel dates.
- Bring bottled water if traveling in July, as outdoor temperatures exceed 95°F (35°C) for up to 28 days per year. Indoor tap water is safe, but 15% of older motels lack in-room coolers; check with the front desk for cooler access or nearby ice machines.
- Tip housekeeping $2 to $5 per night; only 30% of guests tip at non-urban Kansas motels, but staff satisfaction rises by 40% when tipped. Leave cash in an envelope marked 'Housekeeping' with a thank-you note for a personal touch.
