The pool was really great for the kids. The room was spacious and I appreciated the dog walking area with clean up bags, although it got waterlogged when it rained.
The employees were really nice and helpful. I would go back for that alone.
Hotel employee at the front desk, hotel employee in housekeeping, and  the breakfast attendant were all outstanding, giving exceptional service. The breakfast attendant  truly is an angel among us!

Top Tips
- Hurricane season in North Carolina runs June to November, with peak activity August to September. Ask each hotel for a written storm cancellation and refund policy, and confirm on-site generator availability so you avoid prepaid losses or service interruptions during tropical storms. Large hotel brands typically have updated severe weather protocols; request documentation if not provided during booking.
- For Outer Banks summer stays, book 3 to 6 months in advance. Hotels and vacation rentals from Corolla to Hatteras often require a 7-night minimum and approach 95% occupancy in July and August. Early booking secures your preferred dates and avoids weekend rates that can rise 2 to 3 times peak season.
- Cellular and broadband coverage is limited in parts of the Northern Outer Banks and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Download offline maps and key travel guides before arrival to ensure navigation and planning aren't interrupted. Most major hotels in these areas offer in-room Wi-Fi, but confirm coverage if you plan to work remotely.
- Major college events, such as commencement and home football or basketball games, frequently cause hotel sellouts and increased rates in Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, and Greensboro. Book 1 to 3 months ahead for these weekends, and verify event dates on university calendars.
- Asheville’s mid-October leaf season and the Biltmore Christmas season (late November and December) drive hotel rates up by 30 to 80 percent on weekends, with highest demand 6 to 8 weeks in advance. Book early for the best availability, and compare rates with flexible cancellation policies.
- Downtown Charlotte and historic Wilmington hotels often charge $15 to $35 nightly for self-parking or valet service, especially near stadiums or the riverwalk. Add parking fees to your total cost comparison, and ask if complimentary parking is available for rewards members or accessible vehicles.
- Historic hotels and inns in Asheville, Wilmington, and some mountain towns may not offer elevators or easy access. For accessible rooms, request written confirmation of step-free entrance, elevator access, or ADA-compliant features before arrival, and verify upon check-in.
- Remote cabins and some Outer Banks rentals may use private wells or cisterns instead of municipal water. Ask your host if tap water is potable before arrival, especially in rural areas. Larger hotel brands in these regions typically provide filtered or bottled drinking water on site.
- Large events at Charlotte’s convention center, Bank of America Stadium, or Raleigh’s PNC Arena often result in hotel blackout dates and prepaid, nonrefundable rates within 1 to 2 miles of the venue. Cross-check event calendars before booking, and choose refundable rates if you need flexibility.
