Our room & the hotel were beautiful. The staff was fantastic and eager to help. They arranged our airport transport, our cruise transport, and a tour of the Murano Glass factory. I've never been in a room with padded cloth wall coverings!

The hotel was very clean, had free parking on site, rooms were spacious and if it was warmer outside we would have enjoyed the beautiful pool. The bed was comfortable and the food was pretty good. The young man who checked us in was very informative.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location
The room was clean and really nice. The staff was super friendly and even made dinner reservations for us so we didn¿t have to wonder and find a place to eat. The hotel is right on the Grand Canal and walking distance to everything. Breakfast was good to.

The location couldn?t be more central. The breakfast was lovely. This was the first hotel in Italy that was actually quiet at night! We enjoyed our stay.
Good location and breakfast was enjoyable (staff and selection made it nice) Room was just ok for the price. Desk staff seemed uninterested in offering any information about their own hotel.
The location was unbelievable. The staff was more than accommodating. It's an older building with older fixtures in the rooms but what do you really expect from a venice hotel?! It was in walking distance to everything. Photo ops galore.

Location and Service
The location is the only thing good, and they provided a complimentary boat tour to Murano glass factory
Hotel room was way smaller than the pictures appeared. I knew it would be small but it was ridiculously small. The AC was set at 19 Celsius but it was no way close. The room was hot and had to sleep without sheets. The rooms had ants, and other crawlers

The peacefulness of Murano after the bustle of Venice.
The loft that we had was beautiful and extremely roomy. We are happy to stay in Murano vs a smaller hotel room in Venice. The location is fantastic with the public water buses right out front. The staff was all extremely helpful.
LaGare is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful location near Venice with a water taxi stop in front. The rooms are simple but elegant. Breakfast was reasonable and luxurious.

Top Tips
- Hotel rates in central Venice can rise up to 40 percent and rooms fill months in advance during peak season (April to October) and major city events such as Carnival or the Biennale. Book early to secure your preferred dates and location.
- Choose accommodation within 200-400 m of a vaporetto (ACTV water bus) stop or with a private dock to simplify luggage transfer, as Venice’s car-free streets and 400+ bridges mean you’ll be walking. Confirm the nearest ACTV stop before booking.
- Present your passport or valid EU ID at check-in, as Italian law requires hotels to register guests. Expect to pay a local tourist tax of €1–€5 per person, per night (approx. $1.10–$5.50 USD at current rates), collected at checkout; ask for the hotel’s specific rate.
- Venice experiences acqua alta (high water) from October to March. Ask if the hotel provides raised walkways or boots, and request a room above the ground floor to minimize disruption during potential tides.
- Many Venetian properties are historic with no lift and several flights of stairs. Check if your hotel offers elevator access or luggage assistance, and confirm your room floor if step-free access is required.
- Wi-Fi signal and air conditioning can be limited in older buildings. Confirm signal strength and AC availability directly with the hotel, especially if you need reliable internet or climate control for business.
- Smaller hotels or guesthouses may close reception by 20:00. Inform staff of your planned arrival and confirm late check-in instructions if arriving after hours.
- If planning more than two daily water bus trips, a multi-day ACTV vaporetto pass (24, 48, or 72-hour) saves over 30 percent compared to single tickets. Many hotels can direct you to the closest authorized ticket point.
- Private water taxis offer direct transfers but typically cost €60–€120 per trip from the airport or station (approx. $65–$130 USD). Confirm if your hotel has a private dock and request a quote in advance to avoid extra charges.
- Most Venice hotels provide a light continental breakfast or a coffee voucher redeemable at a nearby bar. Check details in advance if you require a full hot breakfast or have dietary restrictions.
- Review recent guest feedback on sites like TripAdvisor or Booking.com for notes about canal noise, humidity, Wi-Fi quality, and actual walking distance from vaporetto stops, as distances can range from 150 m to over 800 m.
- Luggage storage is common but not universal in Venice. Ask if your hotel offers secured storage after checkout if your departure is later in the day.
- Solo travelers seeking added security should select hotels with staffed reception around the clock and can request interior-facing rooms for quieter stays.
- Families should request connecting rooms, family suites, or in-room fridges where available, and consider booking lower floors to reduce stair use with strollers.
- Business guests should confirm if Wi-Fi covers all rooms, check for early breakfast (before 7:00), and request a workspace. If attending events at Venice Lido Convention Center, verify vaporetto schedules for timely access.
- While hotels generally accept major credit cards, keep €5–€10 in coins and small notes (approx. $5–$15 USD) for local purchases, vaporetto tickets, or tips, as small bars and some kiosks may be cash-only.
- For a quieter stay, look at guesthouses in Cannaregio, Dorsoduro, or Giudecca where local businesses are more common. Ask about sustainability practices or community support if that’s a priority.
- Ask staff for neighborhood advice, as they often recommend bacari (Venetian bars) for cicchetti and direct you to less-touristed trattorie within 10 minutes’ walk to help you discover authentic local spots away from crowds.
