The location was perfect for our stay between Christmas & New Year¿s. Olivia at the front desk was very personable and kept her calm given many challenges in checking us in. Eventually making our room right.
Updated decor. On point #4. On checking in 1 person was warm & friendly. During the stay we needed something x2 and the 1 person friendly and helpful the second was cool but professional.

LaQuinta at it's finest. We frequently drive to Florida from NJ and stop someplace in the middle. Until now we have not found a hotel that we would stop at again. We enjoyed this hotel and will gladly stay there again on our next trip down south and back.

Room was very clean, nice size fridge (a must for me). And the staff are amazing. And the location was great, walking distance to everything. And it a save and quiet place. I loved it
The young kid at the front desk questioned me way too much when I showed him my certified service animal papers. To the point of being rude. The next morning the older gentleman at check was very kind and accommodating. Probably his son.
We didnt realize when making the online reservation that this was our second stay a this hotel, so we asked to see the room before registering. There were many improvements.

Top Tips
- Book your Fort Mill hotel 3 to 6 weeks in advance for summer weekends, or 8 or more weeks for major holiday events like Fourth of July or Halloween. This lead time secures availability, as Carowinds theme park demand often fills hotels quickly. Confirm flexible cancellation options when you book to allow for plan changes.
- Rent a car or use rideshares, as Fort Mill is car-dependent. Expect a 20-mile (32 km) drive taking 25-40 minutes to Charlotte Uptown, and a 20-30 mile trip taking 25-45 minutes to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), depending on I-77 traffic. Some major hotel chains may offer local shuttle service or have ride provider partnerships; check with your hotel for details.
- Prioritize hotels within 3 miles (10 to 12 minutes) of the I-77 and SC-160 corridor for the fastest access to Charlotte and Carowinds. Hotels on small local roads can add 15-30 minutes to your travel time during peak traffic. Consider brands like Courtyard by Marriott, Comfort Inn, or Holiday Inn Express located near these main routes.
- Confirm parking and potential event surcharges directly with your hotel before booking. Many Fort Mill chain hotels include free self-parking, but some properties or third-party bookings might add fees of $15 to $25 per night. If you drive an electric vehicle, ask about on-site charging options.
- Fort Mill summers are hot and humid, with frequent afternoon storms. Average July highs reach 90°F (32°C). Pack accordingly and confirm air conditioning reliability, and check cancellation policies for outdoor activities. Bring a refillable water bottle to use at hotel stations, and look for properties with pools or fitness facilities for cooling off.
- If you plan to work remotely, request measured Wi-Fi speeds or confirm a wired port before booking. Suburban chain hotel speeds typically range from 50-150 Mbps, but verifying helps avoid productivity loss. Many hotels also provide business centers or private workspaces; ask about these amenities to support your needs.
- Call hotels directly at least 2 weeks ahead to reserve accessible rooms and clarify features like roll-in showers, transfer space, visual alarms, or step-free access. Many brands hold some accessible inventory off online travel agency distribution.
