It was an older motel but amazingly well kept. You couldn’t have gotten a cleaner room, and the beds were so comfortable. We don’t usually stay in Days Inn but this one was a very pleasant surprise. I’d stay again if coming this way.
Staff helped me lift up my crippled wife back into the bed, whom had fallen into the floor while I was gone on an errand. The two housekeepers went above and beyond normal work, and hopefully the Days Inn could give them bonuses.

Top Tips
- Reserve hotels for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta at least 6 months ahead. Room rates near the event (early October) often rise 50-100%, and many properties require a 3- or 4-night minimum stay.
- Many historic inns near Santa Fe Plaza and Canyon Road are in multi-story adobe buildings without elevators. For step-free access, request an accessible or ground-floor room when booking, and confirm if visual alarms or TTY devices are available.
- Room rates spike during major events beyond the Balloon Fiesta. Albuquerque’s New Mexico State Fair (mid-September) and Santa Fe Opera (June-August) also see increased prices; for these weekends, book 1-3 months in advance.
- Taos Ski Valley lodging is about 20 miles (30-45 minutes) from Taos town. Before booking, confirm shuttle schedules or review rental-car parking options for longer transfers.
- Always check the final price line for New Mexico taxes and municipal lodging fees. These vary by city and can add 8-12% or more to the base rate, so compare the full OTA total before booking.
- Albuquerque Sunport is roughly a 10-18 minute drive to downtown. Uber and Lyft pickup occurs at designated arrival curbs; check your hotel’s airport shuttle policy for free or scheduled services.
- Wildfire smoke can affect New Mexico from June to October, with air quality alerts in some years. Check AirNow.gov before your trip; select hotels offering sealed HVAC or HEPA filtration, and bring N95 masks for outdoor activities if smoke levels are elevated.
- Expect paid or limited parking in central Santa Fe. Downtown and Santa Fe Plaza hotels often charge $15 to $30 per night for parking, while many Albuquerque chain hotels outside the Plaza offer free parking.
- For stays over one week, ask if your hotel has recent radon testing records, especially in EPA Radon Zone 1 or 2 counties. Choosing a room with window ventilation or requesting a ground-floor location can also help reduce risk.
- For reliable high-speed internet, major hotel chains in New Mexico typically advertise guaranteed Wi-Fi speeds or business centers. If you require stable connections for remote work, filter by explicit Mbps ratings or contact the hotel for specifics.
- To help conserve water, many Santa Fe and northern New Mexico hotels adjust housekeeping schedules, often limiting daily service. If you require daily cleaning or early access to your room, confirm frequency and readiness with your hotel.
