- Perfect location to explore Kirkcudbright harbour and surrounding coastal paths. I brought my bike so this was an ideal starting point to discover the town and the local walks, and beaches. Had a most wonderful breakfast which kept me full for the whole day! Haggis was involved and it was delicious. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. I would return just for the breakfast !
- Very friendly staff, good facilities
- Room was clean airy and comfortable
Cons -
- Not much to report, I stayed one night at the top of the hotel - lovely single room, just perfect. My only tiny problem was that the en-suite air vent appears to be on all the time, but I brought my ear plugs so no big deal.
- The blind in the bedroom let in far too much light, so I didn't get a good nights sleep
- Beer garden a little unkept needs some tlc

The breakfast was really good, and friendly staff
The heating was a bit of a nightmare.
Passable
The room was nice and bed comfy. I found the food really let this place down. The menu sounded nice but my rice was so sweet and swimming in a watery sweet source. My broccoli was limp and cold mixed in with the rice. I would not eat here. I could not make breakfast due to an early start the following morning. It would have been nice to have offered a packed breakfast/lunch as an alternative
Loved staying here. It's a great location, the staff are super friendly and made me feel very welcome and the food is great.
Clean tidy
The showers are terrible tap on washbasin did not work properly stiff and loose
A Very comfortable stay, room was spotless, comfortable bed and the breakfasts were excellent
All was good, maybe a blind in the bathroom
The room had everything I needed and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. The location is perfect and a stones throw from the main shops and cafes.

Nothing!
There was a warm welcome when we arrived and advised of our room. We were on the 2nd floor and, unfortunately due to the age and design of the building, there is no possibility of installing a lift so we climbed the steep stairs to what was a large, spotless and comfortable room overlooking the rear garden. Tea/coffee facilities, TV, hair dry and large wardrobe were all available. Toilet had large shower - again spotless. There was a bar/restaurant on the ground floor and we had a delicious meal on Friday. We were advised of an event taking place in the bar on Saturday afternoon to commemorate a local disaster 40 years ago but that we were welcome in should we wish. The breakfast was superb and filling - with more of whatever we wished available on request. The lady on duty was so welcoming and friendly with nothing seeming to be an issue for her.Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kirkcudbright.
Friendly staff, very clean refurbished bedrooms, great location for family funeral celebration. Wonderful warm welcome , great hospitality and cheery breakfast service with hearty full breakfasts. Great shame we couldn't stay longer...Thank you.
Very clean, nice large rooms, quiet, great breakfast, friendly staff and a cute little bar
The mattress - it was too soft
Breakfast and bar
Shower and stairs
The room was lovely, well furnished and decorated and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was also good
The staff were all really cheerful and helpful, particularly Kimberly, however the manageress Missy never introduced herself although we did see her in the pub and she had been contacted about our change of room. The USB sockets in the plug were a good idea but unless you had a long lead there was nowhere to rest the items plugged in. The location was good although there was no onsite parking it was easy to park in the street outside this may have been different in peak season.
We were initially in room 6 but when I sat on the bed I could feel the base beneath the mattress so we asked if we could change and were given room 7 which was a bit better. The radiator in the bathroom didn't work and when we asked about this we were told something about it being switched off as it drained all the heat which I didn't really understand and as ourstay was November on one night the temperature was 1 degree. It is an old building but the condensation on the window in the morning was unbelievable. The blind didn't fully cover the window so light came into the room and we were on a higher floor so no shutters. The fluffy towels needed to be tumble dried to be fluffy so they weren't as per the description. Tried to wash my hair one afternoon at 1630 but no hot water. The food was OK but not fantastic, there appeared to be two menus but we were only shown one, we were on DBB. The breakfast was OK but would have liked some fruit or compote to mix with the yoghurt, no granola just muesli this is personal preference. One evening we went downstairs at 930 pm to get another drink and the bar was in complete darkness, they hadn't warned us that they close early if no customers.
The staff were, very freindly.
The fact that it is advertised as a hotel. It's really a pub with bed and breakfast. Our bed was unconfortable, and the springs made twanging noises when you moved. So we did not sleep well for both nights of our stay. The in room kettle was dirty and green inside, so we did not use it.The water pressure was also low so the toilet did not flush well and the shower pressure was too low.On the Saturday night the pub was very noisy and people shouting in the beer garden until well after 11am.
