Perfect location. Excellent check in experience. We were advised that there would be parties taking place, so to expect some noise. Dog was admitted free of charge and for an old traditional hotel the fixtures and fittings are in excellent condition

The Gallery Café serves traditional meals, while Ash Restaurant serves an à la carte menu. Food is sourced locally, and includes fish from nearby lochs and rivers. Each room at The Royal Highland has rich décor with traditional furniture and high ceilings. Every room also has satellite TV, and facilities for making tea and coffee. The location was excellent. I am disabled and we were able to park right outside the hotel in a disabled space. Room was good for the price and had a nice large tv.

The Kelpies are 20 miles away with Falkirk, Kirkcaldy and Perth a half hour drive. St Andrews and the famous Old Course are about an hours drive. The hotel has excellent conference and banqueting facilities and is idea to visit for either business or pleasure.

Gleneagles is comparable to the Greenbrier or the Homestead in America but on much more subdued and entirely Scottish pattern. More akin to Pinehurst with its emphasis on golf, it offers shooting sports and falconry, which were not available at Pinehurst.

It was very cheap, but it was very clean and tidy. The rooms were spacious and they had everything you needed for a short stay. The staff were very nice and everything we went to Gretna for was a few minutes away from us. The beds were very comfortable.
