It’s quite cold upstairs during the night.

The people were friendly and the location was good.
The property is in need of a refresh. The rooms are sad and old.
Breakfast and location were great.
Bathroom is very small and dated. Room could have used a mirror you could use while standing to dry hair/apply makeup.
It felt really warm and welcoming on arrival. The whole place was spotless and the staff were friendly and chatty.
The ONLY minor issue was that there was no light above the dressing table but that’s not a complaint, just an observation.
Comfy bed, staff were lovely, good food and generous portions
There was an event on the Saturday night that was loud and the sound insulation is terrible. I didn't stay the last night because of this. I have contacted the hotel and I'd recommend people check if there are events planned for their chosen dates
Spacious car park, friendly staff, brilliantly sized food portions, sensible price, nice bar and restaurant area. As much as I have written the negatives in this review I have to say that this is a nice place to stay. Ideally located and greeted with a smile. The food and drink offerings are great and as much as I have been honest with this review I have to admit that I will give them another try - there is just something about the place.
There was a hole appearing in the ceiling which I thought would have been addressed before offering to the buying public, a broken shower that meant you couldn't make the shower any hotter than the safe standard fitting, a very 80's looking bedside light, no plug sockets by the bed, a crack in the window glass, a skylight that doesn't have a blackout blind so not great in the lighter mornings, a chair in your room but no desk to sit at and do work if on a business trip like myself plus the wi-fi was constantly dropping out.
The location was fine, we got far to much to eat at breakfast, and felt bad having to leave a lot.
Bed room not very modern.
Great staff was greeted by the owner on my arrival...excellent food and drinks ....Great waiting staff and bar staff
Nothing to dislike
Rooms are laid out very well, clean and spacious and the bed was comfy, the staff are very welcoming and friendly and go out their way to assist you
I got woken up early everyday I stayed due to roof repairs been carried out, I understand repairs and upgrades need to be done but to be woken up early every day with workmen shouting, playing music and banging is extremely annoying
Lovely old building, warm and comfortable. Excellent staff, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Comfortable beds and wonderful, generous food.
Everything!! The staff very polite, friendly and helpful. My room and bathroom clean and tidy. A lovely choice for breakfast and excellent staff! Housekeeping always ready to help and very friendly. The hotel beautiful inside. I have stayed bedore and will definitely come again
The shower was very small, even though I'm not a big person, I struggled to move..
Pleasant staff good food no
Bed
Unfortunately not advised that the hotel was covered in scaffolding so was a bit surprised to arrive at what looked like a building site. Also, despite many staff available in the restaurant, got the menus ourselves after waiting 15/20 minutes and then had to ask to place our order after another 15 + minutes by finding a member of staff and was told they would be along when they were ready - that was extremely disappointing
Room was OK. Walls paper thin but suppose it's to be expected. Staff all very nice apart from one miserable barmaid
Always feel very welcome. Been at functions a lot here and 1st time we have stayed. Was a little surprised that there was no wardrobe in the bedroom. Plenty of beds and drawers but no hanging space except a hook on the back of the door.
The room (Room 3) was wonderful - large, great views from bay window, spotlessly clean, comfortable.Dinner was great as well, with amazingly generous portions. My wife asked to take home the meat she couldn't finish and the young woman who served us happily stored it in the fridge overnight. Excellent service.Breakfast was similarly generous and superbly well cooked.
Our bathroom was pretty small - cramped, even, with a wash hand basin that was small because that's all they could fit in there. The shower was small and old-fashioned looking, and the controls seemed curiously stiff an difficult to operate. we managed, though.
The staff were excellent, friendly and polite. The food was also excellent and they gave generous portions, top marks. The only downside to this hotel is the tiny bathroom. Not much thought went in where they placed the toilet as there was no room to move once on it ?. Otherwise this is a fantastic friendly hotel.
Location was great. The staff were all helpful. The room was nice and the bed one of the most comfortable I've had anywhere.
On the first morning, I asked for some items only from the "Full Scottish breakfast" on the menu. . . and got everything! Which led to some waste. (The actual quality of the breakfast was good.)
