Starting From

Good reception Good size of room although I only saw one Good fitness room Good breakfast/service
We previously have stayed at 2 nearby Marriott properties during the past several years. This Homewood Suites Hotel was far superior to those River Road area properties both in pricing and quality of environment and overall amenities.

The staff allowed us to leave our bags there since we arrived really early before checkin. The staff allowed us to checkin early because a room became available. The daytime staff on July 23-25 was great. The night time staff on July 24 was helpful.

Top Tips
- Prioritize hotels that list on-site parking. River Road parking is restricted, so hotels offering gated parking remove meter worries and ticketing risk. Hotels such as Courtyard by Marriott and Homewood Suites provide secure on-site parking (typically $15 to $30 per night). If you need accessible parking, ask about step-free access from the lot to entrances before booking. Always confirm the exact overnight parking fee with the hotel.
- Factor in New Jersey state tax plus local occupancy charges. New Jersey state sales tax applies to lodging, and many municipalities add hotel levies. Confirm the total tax and fee percentage before payment to avoid 5-15% uplifts. Request a breakdown of all taxes and fees at checkout; many hotels list these in the booking summary.
- Compare waterfront and inland room rates. Hudson-facing waterfront rooms typically cost significantly more, while rooms facing away or at nearby inland properties like Fort Lee may offer 10-30% savings. Confirm if the hotel provides lookout points or communal terraces for river views even if your room is not river-facing.
- Take the Edgewater ferry for Manhattan commutes. NY Waterway ferries reach Midtown in under 25 minutes, with peak departures every 20-30 minutes. Use the NY Waterway app to check real-time schedules, accessible boarding times, and up-to-date ticket prices before booking.
- Combine bus and ferry for flexible off-peak travel. NJ Transit bus routes 158 and 188 run along River Road, connecting hotels to Edgewater ferry and the Port Authority Terminal. Using both can speed up evening or weekend commutes. Use the NJ Transit trip planner to compare transfer times and check for step-free boarding if needed.
- Check Edgewater's waterfront event calendar before booking weekend stays. The area hosts art fairs and summer concerts on the Hudson waterfront, usually June to September, which may increase nightly rates and noise until 10 pm on weekends. Review the borough’s event calendar or ask your hotel about scheduled festivals if you prefer a quieter stay or want to enjoy local celebrations.
