The rooms were fine for the price if it had been clean. It was not
Considering they had started construction within the building to update rooms, the cleaning crew provided us a pretty clean room. Breakfast was provided and they offered a decent variety.

We fell in love with the owners immediately. We were having a family get together and they opened the door for us to use a wonderful space that made our gathering the best ever. The Christmas Decor made it so very inviting for all our families!

Nothing. The hotel was horrible, no breakfast like advertised, no pool like advertised and the elevator was out of service! Our fire alarm in the room was even broke with live wires hanging from the ceiling.

Top Tips
- Book your Forsyth hotel 3-6 weeks before the Decatur Celebration in early August to avoid sellouts and last-minute rate spikes. This annual event draws over 100,000 attendees, leading to high demand and potential rate increases of up to 15% compared to flexible rates. Booking directly through hotel websites offers real-time availability and typically the most flexible cancellation options. Check event dates on official city or event sites and confirm accessible room needs at the time of booking, as these rooms also sell out quickly.
- Select Forsyth hotels if you need rapid access to I-72 and northbound routes, with a typical 10-15 minute drive to downtown Decatur. This is especially convenient for road-trippers or business travelers continuing to Springfield, Champaign, or Chicago. Most hotels are within 1 mile of fueling stations and 24-hour convenience stores, and parking is often complimentary. If you need accessible parking, confirm availability with your hotel in advance.
- Choose Decatur Municipal Airport (DEC) for the closest commercial air service (8-12 miles from Forsyth), with a 20-25 minute drive. DEC's small terminal means quick security and baggage claim, though flights are limited and some routes may not run daily; primary carriers are Cape Air, United codeshare, or local regional operators. The airport includes accessible restrooms and ramp boarding; travelers with mobility needs should contact their airline at least 48 hours in advance for assistance.
- For more nonstop flight and carrier options, plan on a 50-60 minute drive from Bloomington-Normal (BMI) or Champaign-Urbana (CMI) airports. BMI and CMI offer more daily nonstop flights on national carriers such as American, Delta, and Allegiant, with ride-share and car rental desks available at each airport. Use route-planning apps to check for traffic delays, particularly during university events or holidays when congestion rises. Both airports provide step-free access, visual paging, and accessible vehicle rentals; call at least 24 hours ahead for accommodations.
- Plan to rent a car or confirm hotel shuttle or rideshare options in advance, since public transit is limited outside Decatur’s core. Many hotels have partnerships with local shuttle or rideshare services—ask about any discounts or set fares. Car rental counters may close after 17:00, so book ahead if arriving late. Note that the Decatur Public Transit System does not run all routes into Forsyth on evenings or Sundays. Confirm wheelchair-accessible transportation at least 48 hours before arrival.
- Confirm onsite amenities and the distance to a grocery or gas station, as most Forsyth chain hotels on main roads are within a 5-10 minute drive of essentials. Many are within 2 miles of Hickory Point Mall and major stores such as Walmart, Meijer, Kroger, or CVS. Hotel front desk staff can recommend nearby 24-hour stores or delivery options. Some hotels offer in-room grocery or pharmacy delivery—ask at check-in. For step-free access between your hotel and nearby stores, confirm ADA routes in advance if walking.
- Request and confirm an ADA accessible room at least 7 days before arrival, as smaller properties may have limited inventory. Provide specific needs (such as roll-in showers, step-free entry, or visual alarms) when booking; many chains list these features online or respond quickly by phone. Ask for written confirmation listing required accessible features, and double-check availability 2-3 days before check-in. U.S. law requires equivalent access, but not all properties have the same room features; notify your hotel if accommodations are not as described.
