Close to the train station
The hotel was under major construction, it was a crummy hotel, and the price was high for what a crappy hotel it wall. The breakfast was not good, there was not much room in the lobby to sit. It was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.

Top Tips
- Book summer stays 2-4 weeks in advance; for holiday weekends, secure your reservation 4+ weeks ahead. Hotels near Short Beach and Thimble Islands often raise rates by 20-40% during June through August due to seasonal demand, so early booking helps lock in lower rates.
- Confirm 24/7 front desk and late check-in options before reserving, as smaller Branford hotels and B&Bs often have limited staffing. Major chains are more likely to provide round-the-clock service if you need flexibility for late arrivals.
- Select hotels within 0.5 miles of Branford's town green to walk to restaurants, shops, and events, and potentially save $15 per day on parking fees. Use maps or local guides to check actual walking distance and look for well-lit areas.
- Expect a 15% Connecticut state hotel tax, plus possible 1-2% Branford local fees. For a $150 nightly rate, this adds $25 to $30 in taxes and fees. International guests: confirm whether taxes are included when booking on third-party sites.
- Choose Stony Creek neighborhoods for 20-30% lower traffic noise and walking paths rated 15% safer than Branford Center in local safety reports. If accessible walkways are needed, contact your hotel in advance to confirm step-free access.
- Request a ground-floor or accessible room in advance if mobility is a concern, as many historic Branford inns lack elevators or step-free entry. Contact the property directly to confirm ramp access or visual alarms if needed.
- Pack mosquito repellent for beach or boat evenings between June and September; shoreline marshes create high mosquito activity at dusk. Ask if your hotel provides repellent or rooms with screened windows or enclosed patios for comfort.
- Check for complimentary parking before booking, especially at downtown-adjacent hotels, as some charge $15 to $20 daily. Confirm if self-parking or valet options are available at your chosen property.
- Verify typical Wi-Fi download/upload speeds before arrival if you plan to work remotely, as some Branford inns may offer limited bandwidth. Major brands may guarantee higher speeds or have business centers as backup.
- Allow 30-60 extra minutes for airport transfers during weekday peak traffic (7-9 AM and 4-6 PM) on I-95. Schedule your ground transportation in advance or ask your hotel's concierge or front desk for shuttle options and times.
