Top Tips
- Choose hotels within 400-800 meters (1,300-2,600 ft) of Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain for a 5-10 minute walk along accessible, well-lit paths, with many major brands nearby. This area offers direct SkyTrain service to Vancouver, letting you avoid local taxi costs.
- Reach downtown Vancouver (Waterfront) in 35-45 minutes via the SkyTrain from Lafarge Lake-Douglas, which is often faster and more reliable than driving at rush hour. For current schedules, use TransLink’s Trip Planner.
- Stay next to Coquitlam Centre Mall for access to more than 200 shops, restaurants, groceries, and pharmacies within a 2-10 minute walk, which is useful if you want to avoid car rentals for short visits.
- Many midscale hotels in Coquitlam, including popular chains, offer free on-site parking, saving about $15 to $30 CAD daily compared to downtown Vancouver rates. Check your chosen property for accessible parking options when booking.
- Plan for a 50-70 minute trip from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Coquitlam using the Canada Line and SkyTrain, with step-free access and elevators at all stations. Expect consistent fares, which cost far less than taxis.
- For quiet workspaces during weekdays, select Coquitlam hotels offering business centers or meeting rooms. Major chains often provide these areas with high-speed Wi-Fi, supporting remote work or family needs.
- Standard check-in at Coquitlam hotels is around 15:00, with check-out by 11:00. Arrange early or late options in advance if needed. Some chains may offer flexibility to loyalty members or guests with special requirements.
