Amazing and welcoming staff, cleaniness
Very close to universal studios. They say it¿s a 12 minute walk. However you better be a fast walker and ready to walk up a steep hill at the end of the walk. We ended up renting a $8 Uber because we were going to be walking all day.
El Royale Gardens was great! Very pleasant greetings from the staff; room was wonderful. Clean, nicely decorated and location, parking excellent. Hollywood memories combined with modern touches. Romantic, nostalgique, as the French say! We'll be back!!

Top Tips
- Account for a 14% Los Angeles city tax and typical nightly facility or parking fees of $15-$40 at North Hollywood hotels; these can add up on your final bill. Some hotels offer parking-inclusive packages or lower-cost offsite garages within 0.5 miles.
- Utilize the NoHo Metro (B Line/Red) for faster subway links; travel to Hollywood/Highland takes 12-15 minutes and Union Station (DTLA) 20-25 minutes, avoiding peak traffic. All Metro stations on the B Line provide step-free access and elevators.
- Expect shorter drive times to Burbank studios and Burbank Bob Hope Airport (10-20 minutes) from North Hollywood than to LAX (45-75 minutes), depending on traffic. Compare hotel shuttle options or check for nearby rideshare pickup points.
- Discover additional peace of mind by choosing hotels with onsite, gated, or monitored parking, especially valued for guests with rental vehicles or specialty equipment. Auto and property crimes are more frequent in the San Fernando Valley.
- Do not assume free airport shuttles to Burbank or LAX from North Hollywood hotels; expect to pay $25-$50 for rideshare to BUR and $50+ to LAX, so confirm or arrange transfers in advance. Ask if your hotel partners with local shuttle services or offers pre-arranged transportation assistance.
- Book 30-45 days ahead for summer weekends and Universal Studios event peaks (such as Halloween Horror Nights) to avoid rate surges and sold-out midscale hotels. Major conventions and Universal Studios events can trigger rapid price increases, so set calendar reminders when booking early.
- Choose hotels with a 24-hour front desk for late arrivals or returns from night shoots, ensuring faster check-in and support for lost baggage or keys. Nearly all branded hotels on Lankershim Boulevard provide 24-hour reception for flexibility and safety.
- Tap water in North Hollywood is potable and meets LADWP standards; request filtered bottles only if you prefer a different taste. Boiled or filtered water is available on request at most hotels, supporting green practices.
- If you require reliable high-bandwidth Wi-Fi for remote work, confirm measured upload and download Mbps with the hotel before booking, as 'free Wi-Fi' speeds vary. Many major chains advertise 'premium Wi-Fi,' but actual speeds can depend on room location and network demand; ask for recent test results.
- Favor hotels within the NoHo Arts District (Lankershim between Magnolia and Chandler) for evening dining within a 5-10 minute walk, reducing the need for short car trips. The NoHo Arts District features multiple dining styles, including late-night eateries and accessible options.
