Top Tips
- Book your Chester hotel 2-4 weeks before events at Fort Gregg-Adams, as room availability often tightens during military ceremonies and family visits. Contact the hotel directly to confirm military family rates or special block bookings, which can offer savings—sometimes up to 15% compared to standard rates.
- Richmond International Airport (RIC) is the nearest major airport, with most Chester hotels located within a 20-30 minute drive. Discover quicker transfers by booking hotels directly off I-95 or arranging hotel shuttles in advance, particularly during weekday peak hours (7:00-9:30 and 16:00-18:30).
- Prioritize hotels with free onsite parking and direct access to I-95 or US Route 10. Selecting a location within 0.5 miles of these highways can cut your drive to central Richmond or Fort Gregg-Adams by 15-25 minutes, making day trips or commutes more efficient.
- Expect limited public transit options after 21:00 in southern Chesterfield areas. Pre-install Uber or Lyft, or request hotel shuttle or cab contacts at check-in for late arrivals to guarantee reliable transport.
- For summer visits, verify that your room's air conditioning is operational and request a non-highway-facing room to reduce I-95 noise disruption. Virginia’s summer highs often exceed 85°F (29°C) with high humidity, and interior-facing rooms can help ensure restful sleep.
- Check cancellation policies and confirm military or government rates directly with the hotel; many Chester properties offer 24-48 hour flexible cancellation and discounted rates for qualified guests. Always request written confirmation when booking for added peace of mind.
