Top Tips
- For a short weekday commute to major employers like Intel, choose Ocotillo-area hotels; these properties are typically a 5-12 minute drive to Intel's Chandler campus. Many hotels in this area offer shuttle service on request, so confirm availability for direct rides, especially if you require accessible transportation.
- Select your flights based on your hotel location: Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) is 20-30 minutes (18-22 miles) from central Chandler, while Phoenix-Mesa Gateway (AZA) is 15-25 minutes (9-14 miles) from southeast Chandler. Both airports are served by ride-hailing services and on-site rental car agencies, with accessibility-adapted vehicles available from major providers if reserved in advance.
- During June-September, local dust storms (haboobs) can reduce visibility and create strong winds, often affecting ground and air travel. Add 60-90 minutes to ground transfers during these months and check airport advisories and flight status to minimize disruption, especially for afternoon departures.
- Plan for rental cars or rideshares while in Chandler, as light rail service is not available and bus coverage is limited for most point-to-point trips. Some hotels offer courtesy shuttles within a 5-mile radius; verify shuttle availability and accessible vehicle access before arrival if needed.
- Explore Downtown Chandler's compact dining cluster on foot, but check city parking maps for posted limits and managed lots to avoid tickets. Hotel front desks often provide parking maps or guidance to nearby garages with step-free access and electric vehicle charging.
- Book 3-6 weeks in advance for weekend stays during high season (November-March) to avoid rate increases and possible sell-outs. Loyalty members at major hotel brands may unlock early booking perks or flexible cancellation; joining a program can add savings and benefits.
- Store valuables in hotel safes and use secured or well-lit parking, as Chandler Police report thefts from vehicles in the area. For guest safety, request accessible room locations and promptly notify hotel security if you lose any items.
- Before booking summer stays (May-September), confirm hotel pool hours and verify that air conditioning controls are guest-operated, as temperatures can exceed 105°F (40°C). Ask if pool areas offer ramp or lift access, which is especially important for families, seniors, or guests with mobility needs.
