Location and staff. Good concession area.
It is a clean hotel with spacious rooms for a European hotel. The location is ideal - along the water and close to the main street for dining and music. Most tour companies pickup customers directly in front of the hotel, along the street.

The breakfast was great! Many options, good taste. We woke up to the smell of fresh bread, which was definitely a plus. We were worried that it would be too loud for sleep because our room was sandwiched between two hallways, but all was quiet.
The staff very friendly and always happy to help. I was able to book a trip to see the northern lights dying the check in. The location was also good, very close to a sea front and 20 mins walk to town centre. The breakfast included was also very good
The price of the hotel cabin was the least expensive that I could find. It also included a breakfast, however I had to leave too early to eat it. The location was convenient, down the way from the shopping area. The parking was included, and the staff

Hands down, the staff were absolute legends. Every single person I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about my experience. Wonderful team.
Overall very well run hotel. The only problem was a DJ music event on Thursday nights till 11 pm. So loud that the rooms above on second floor were horribly loud from the amplifiers. DO NOT stay in a second floor room if you use this hotel

Top Tips
- Book 3-6 months ahead for summer stays (June-August), as hotel rates in Reykjavik often rise 30-50% due to peak travel and festivals like Iceland Airwaves. Rates increase sharply during major events, so compare flexible and nonrefundable options for value.
- Select Icelandic Króna (ISK) as your payment currency at hotel terminals to avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion fees that add 2-8% to your total. Confirm the currency choice before authorizing your card.
- Hotels in quieter areas like Grafarvogur typically cost 15-25% less than central 101 Reykjavik properties. If you have a rental car, consider these neighborhoods for savings.
- Verify Wi-Fi speed during check-in if remote work is planned. Most Reykjavik hotels offer 50-150 Mbps, but winter storms can cause short outages. Consider downloading offline files as a backup.
- Request step-free access or an accessible room in advance. Only 40-60% of hotels in Reykjavik have elevators, especially in older buildings, so confirm elevator availability at time of booking.
- Choose hotels with Nordic Swan or Green Key eco-certifications, which often use geothermal energy and support local conservation. Look for certification logos on the hotel's website or lobby signage.
- Expect a municipal tourist tax charged nightly, usually 280-700 ISK (approx. $2-$5) per room, on top of your rate. Review your booking details for this fee.
- Confirm if breakfast is included, as Icelandic buffets at hotels typically cost 2,200-3,600 ISK (approx. $15-$25) per person when paid separately. Ask about local specialties such as skyr and smoked fish.
- Rooms facing courtyards or on higher floors can be quieter in the 101 and Laugavegur districts, where nightlife creates street noise until 2-3 AM on weekends. Request your preference when reserving.
- Use platforms like HotelTonight for same-day bookings in January-March. Luxury hotels such as Canopy by Hilton often list rooms for 30-50% less by late afternoon. Verify cancellation terms before booking these deals.
- Bring a Type F (Schuko) adapter for Icelandic power outlets; electricity is 230V/50Hz. Check that all chargers and devices are compatible with this voltage.
- Ask if your hotel offers complimentary or low-fee luggage hold. Many properties accommodate early arrivals or late flights, but always confirm availability at check-in.
- Carry a reusable water bottle; Reykjavik tap water is clean and free, saving you 600-900 ISK (approx. $4-$6) daily versus bottled water. Most hotels have refill stations or accessible taps.
- Some hotels partner with local geothermal pools. For example, Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina may include Sky Lagoon passes (a 9,000 ISK/$65 value). Check for these inclusions when comparing rates.
- Request blackout curtains for May-July stays to block the midnight sun. Only about 40% of budget hotels provide them, so confirm availability for restful sleep, especially if sensitive to light.
