BE WARNED - PORTO SANTO IS A 2.5 HR BOAT RIDE FROM MADEIRA ITSELF! This wasn't clear enough in the description and NO REFUND is offered from Hotel Paris Dourada. Our other place refunded us with a credit for another date when we had to change our dates.

The price, the location, housekeepers very competent. Games room , swimming pool, and good wifi and tv channels

The staff allowed to check-in early.

The hotel was infested with ants, was dirty, full of dust, all of the facilities were very old. The TV had bad signal, the window in the bathroom didn’t close. Overall, really unpleasant experience.

Great location and easy to get to from the ferry and airport. The staff was more than helpful and friendly - always willing to provide their assistance whenever they could. The pool area is conjoined with a local bar which is also great, though the service could be a little slow at times. Check-in was smooth as well.

Our beds weren't super comfortable and the sheets were a little stained/dirty upon inspection. The room has one of those slots where you put your card in to use the electricity in the room. That's alright I guess but when we were there it was 94° (41°c) on the night we stayed and coming home to a hot and humid room every time we left wasn't the greatest. There were also some kids at the pool essentially occupying the entire space and using squirt guns to shoot themselves and other guests trying to use the pool. Obviously this is not the hotels fault but the parents basically sat around and did nothing while this happened. As you would assume we weren't able to use the pool and never tried to use it again because of the kids

Location - very central for virtually everything.WiFi, generally fast and efficient, throughout the hotel, including the bedrooms. Advertised on Booking.com as only in the hotel lobby. The hotel should consider altering this detail on its page with Booking.com.Plenty of hot water. This might seem something to be automatically expected, but it is amazing how many hotels cannot provide a constant supply of hot water.Breakfast was adequate. Reasonable selection of cold food. The only hot food was toast, but the toasting machine took forever. Nobody appreciated my joke that it would have been quicker to go and hunt down a dragon and get it to breathe fire on my slice of bread.Most staff tried to resolve problems (if somewhat unsuccessfully), were helpful and generally polite.

Shower - no soap in dispenser, no shelf for personal items. The drain cover in the shower was broken, so it would not stay in place. Two maintenance men came to the room and considered the problem for quite a while, but no replacement ever arrived and nothing was done about it.Hole in bath towel. Next day, new towels, but I discovered an even bigger hole in the hand towel. I appreciate that this is a hotel of basic standard, but (sorry) whatever the level of hotel, holes in towels is simply unacceptable. Housekeeping, or the person in charge of it, should check on such things.Dozens of small flies in bathroom, despite a grill on the outside of the window. Tried shutting the window one night, as instructed, but just as many flies the following morning. After that we generally kept the window closed for much of the time, which did seem to lessen the problem, but it was never satisfactorily or completely resolved.At breakfast I asked for a teaspoon and was given a paper sachet containing a thin stick of wood. Most other (proper) cutlery was in reasonable supply, so why not teaspoons? Too much washing-up?One day (when perhaps more guests than usual arrived) we waited until mid-afternoon for the room to be made up. Then, when we finally complained, we were rudely accused of leaving the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, which was untrue. On the two occasions we went to walk round the town, while waiting for the room to be cleaned, we left the 'Please Make Up The Room' sign on the door both times. On average, it took until 15:00 hours each day before the room was cleaned and made up.

Great location! Hotel has all the amenities, a good breakfast, pool, and even a game room.

The walls can be thin in the rooms so you hear the neighbors if they are loud. But that's the only complaint we have.

The lady in the front desk was very helpful and nice, even though it was a busy day.

The entire hotel is very outdated, looks and feels like the buildings from the communist era... Some rooms are extremely bad, some are just okay. Breakfast was only cold items, couple hams and cheese slices and hundreds of rolls and breads... No veggies no hot items. We only booked for a night because our ferry was canceled that day, so it was okay, but I would never recommend it for a longer stay. It wouldnt have bothered me if the room prices were lower than the other 4 star hotels along the coast, but no. It was the same price as the much prettier, more comfortable higher end hotels on the beach... So that's a big big minus. Also full of elderly people, so definately not for the younger generation.

the breakfast is terrible. Literally zero vegetables, bad coffee and juices. Only sygary things to eat. It would be better not to propose breakfast and I believe the hotel woul be rated higher than it is at the moment.

Clean and comfortable, air conditioning was a welcome surprise and very welcome, pool area well set out and very clean

Nothing to dislike

The hotel was very clean, the staff very friendly. The beach bar is very convenient and the little pool is a bonus. On the last day once we checked out we were allowed to stay at the pool, that was so nice because otherwise we were just had to wait somewhere else for the 8oclock ferry

Breakfast was continental, plenty of choice , ideal to set you up for the day , constantly topped up and lots attentive staff

Nothing really , the hotel is a budget hotel that does the job , no frills but the staff are very friendly.
