An excellent luxurious hotel in Almaty!We visited in July/August 2024. We were a family of 4 adults and 2 children.Overall, we had a pleasant stay. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, the spa, and the beauty salon.We would like to thank the manager, Mr. Askhat, and his team for their helpfulness and hospitability.Pros:- Upscale hotel with spacious clean rooms.- Location is great near many restaurants, shops, and Dostyk Plaza.- The breakfast buffet is excellent with a wide variety of options from different cuisines (international, Indian, Japanese, ...).- The gym is well equipped for both cardio and strength training. There's a scale in the gym room, a water cooler, a disinfectant, a hand sanitizer, and towels (including cold towels in a little fridge). They also offer personal training sessions.- The swimming pool is indoor with changing rooms next to it.- The staff and the manager (Mr. Askhat) were friendly and took good care of us when we asked for room upgrade.- The room service menu was good.- They have a concierge service to answer your questions about the city. They also partner with almaty-tours.com to help you book any tours in or around the city.- There lobby is huge and is very nice and quiet.

Cons:- The stay is pricey, but you get what you pay for.- The standard room doesn't have a stand up shower (unlike the suit), but only a tub that's a bit high to get inside of, so it could be a bit hard to people with disability or to the olds. Also, the lack of curtain would result in a wet bathroom floor.

Not much, except for location of the hotel.

1. Rooms are very very dirty - starting from all surfaces, dirty stained carpets, windows and mirrors, etc. 2. TV set was not working for the whole period of stay and despite the request to fix it - I have received a reply that the IT is not working until Monday, but also on Monday and Tuesday nothing got fixed. Bathtub plug - not working. Lamp parts - were simply missing. 3. Personnel is walking into the room without asking. When knocking on the door - knocking persistently in a way, that does not allow reasonable time to even arrive to the door. 4. Phone lines are not working, to get through to reception and/or room service - takes at least several times to dial in. 5. Room service - very poor, starting from taking the orders (e.g., ordered a breakfast, waited for 1 hour, then called back - did not get through, but then found out that they didn't have the order...). Received double potato side - but those were not ordered, 6. There are cockroaches in the room! 7. Lifts were not working for several times- therefore getting to the room on Level 6 - was difficult... 8. Reception personnel does not remember anything, communication clarity is very poor. 9. Lobby bar / restaurant - stayed in the evening 3 times in the row (for 30 minutes) asking for service without any success.... and so on.

I chose the Rixos Almaty Hotel because I am a loyal customer of Rixos Hotels wherever I visit. Rixos hotels are known for their excellent services, delicious food, and exceptional staff. However, this time I did not find any of that at the Rixos Almaty Hotel. The problems started from the moment of arrival when dealing with unprofessional staff who often do not speak English well or understand the booking system. It also seems that there is a lack of coordination among the staff, and transactions are not properly recorded in the hotel system.The issues persisted throughout every aspect of my stay. Upon arrival, the receptionist claimed there was only a reservation for one room despite my booking clearly indicating two rooms. This confusion continued throughout my stay, including with the hotel car reservation for airport transfers. Despite making the reservation through the GuestS Relations officer and receiving confirmation and payment receipts, every time the staff changed, I was asked to pay again, necessitating me to repeatedly prove my payment until the moment I left for the airport.I was also dissatisfied with the hotel's location, as there were few nearby services in the surrounding area, forcing guests to use the hotel's very expensive and limited restaurant with slow service. Even the breakfast did not meet the expected quality of a Rixos hotel, being very modest with limited options.The only positive aspect was the beautiful lobby; however, the rooms themselves were very old and dirty, with extremely outdated furniture. The "deluxe" rooms, as described on booking websites, were supposed to have balconies, but in reality, they only had French windows that couldn't be used for sitting, only for viewing.Furthermore, the hotel staff locked the fridge unless requested otherwise, preventing guests from using it to cool water or other beverages unless using paid for.

Good location to discover the center , friendly stuff that provides a lot of help .

The rooms are not very clean. They need to be re- innovated. The carpets are very dirty.

This is a very swanky, grandiose hotel. The main atrium is elaborated decorated and gives views up to the corridors where the rooms are. When I visited it didn't feel too busy, which I thought was great.I didn't check out the spa, but the gym was better equipped than 90% of the hotels I stay in. I had enough variety of equipment to manage to get a proper workout in, which is a rarity.

A few points:- The price is very expensive for what you get. The hotel is certainly high-end, but the price (particularly when compared with other hotels) is too high. I would have to consider whether I stay in the Rixos the next time I go to Almaty.- Someone needs to do something about all the irritating influencers that wander around filming contrived videos of themselves. Nothing destroys a classy vibe like people doing rehearsed pieces to camera or childish TikTok style dances. I don't know why guests would come to the calm and sophisticated surroundings of the main atrium for a tea, as I did regularly, just to be subjected to this disruptive nonsense. I must have seen on average two such influencers a day. It is one of the main reasons I would struggle to recommend this place to others.

Wonderful staff. Wonderful food. Excellent location. If staying in Almaty again I will definitely stay at the Rixos. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Breakfast is good, the lobby is comfortable and has a luxurious feeling. Location is at the hearth of the city, there is a larger market on the next corner if you don't want to pay high prices of hotel menu. We haven't checked the spa but it looked promising in the promo material.

Room had a broken bed light. The bath tap water switch arm was broken. The air conditioning could not adjust itself to set temperature. It was heating too much and I had to wake up and turn it on when the room gets too hot and again, I had to wake up and turn it on when the room got cold. Off course this turn on turn off cycle was more than 1 for each night. This effected our sleep quality in a terrible way for both nights. The bed itself was old and deformed in the middle. The middle section was lower than the edges. As a face down sleeper, it made me sleep in a backwards arched position so it was not comfortable for me. For the price we paid for this hotel, these problems are simply unacceptable. You can see all of these problems in the photos I am uploading.

This was my 3rd or 4th stay in Rixos Almaty. I like the hotel, the set up, lobby, and services offered.The room was big (not as booked but ok), matras good, amenities plenty. Breakfast of good standard, with good service.

Reception took a long time, and 3 staff members, to check me in. Room given to me not according to booking, bigger but road view in stead of garden view. Lobby bar, nice area, takes an awful long time to get served. Had to go to the actual bar to ask to get served, and even then it took 10minutes. Other guests went to get their drinks themselves, so long it took.

Location was good.

The hotel is tired, room was not up to standard, no minibar, forgot a welcome gift and pillows were terrible. Breakfast was thin & people take suitcases to tables and knock other people, as there is not enough space.

Lobby bar & lounge staff is very caring and nice at service. Menu is short but tasty. Nice SPA facility indeed. Various SPA services are offered and

This hotel just has name Rixos nothing inside has anything to do with the reputable brand. The rooms are old, wore and not very well maintained. Housekeeping works 2-3 guys together but it is just watching phone apps together not for the service. Not every socket works in the rooms (I stayed in 2 and both had this issue).

Nothing, like stepping 49 years into the past

Price and quality is completely unbalanced. For 300EUR night you get seemingly luxurious hotel, what it definitely was 10 years ago but during that time nothing but price has “improved”. Even breakfast wasn’t included to this price, had to pay 20.-EUR per breakfast. Elevators are slow and half of them were out of order, carpets are dirty especially in the room. Major renovation should be done to meet that price level.

Air temperature in room was controlled and I was very warm , asked to turn thermostat down but was told not possible. If I opened the sliding door for fresh air the noise and smell from autos was too heavy

At the reception staff were rude and not customer focused, after long check in , when we got the room , room was so small even we booked deluxe with city view , they gave us room view to neighbor building, room accessories was old and dirty and used so many many times that became visible from outside and inside as a teapot, lamp , dirty carpet on the floor was disgusting etc They put there is a balcony in deluxe room , in fact hotel does not have balcony and it’s just window I don’t recommend to book this ancient style hotel ,even its 5 star, better look something new ! Quality of service and ambiance doesn’t worth the price !
