The location is excellent and the staff are lovely however the parking was not so good we had to stay in the long stay car park and move the car later when there was eventually a space outside the hotel. Breakfast was amazing.

    The parking was very disappointing.

The decor is exceptional throughout the hotel, really luxurious but quirky in places too. The beds were really comfortable, which was important to me as I'm pregnant right now. Beautiful room and gorgeous bathroom with all Penhaligon's toiletries. The staff were all lovely, so friendly even during the busy breakfast period. The breakfast was superb and really set us up for the day; I had sourdough with avocado and eggs and helped myself to a big bowl of fresh fruit with yogurt from the bar. All delicious, and most of it locally sourced.I also loved that my dog was welcome, he received a ball and there was a jar of dog biscuits in the room for him. He was not permitted anywhere else in the hotel but that was fine because he waited nicely in the car when we had our breakfast.

There was nothing bad about our stay, I hope to return to The Cookie Jar after our baby is born for a little holiday.

Beautiful decor. Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Impeccably clean. Good location. Only one small criticism would have liked a small private fridge in the room.

    9MollyPosted on: 4-14-2025

Great location and the building itself and its history. The staff were excellent especially at breakfast which was also superb. Lovely clean room with really comfy beds and fantastic shower.

The room was a little small with no view and the air conditioning made a noise during the night

    10GaibriellePosted on: 4-13-2025

The staff were amazing and the hotel itself was stunning. We still comment on how comfy the bed was months later. Dogs were accommodated wonderfully and Vinnie adores his tennis ball from the room.

It was slightly disappointing that dogs couldn’t go into the dining room for breakfast or other meals as this meant we had to go elsewhere for breakfast and tea. But, we did know this at the time of booking and still decided to book due to how gorgeous the hotel is and its location.

Amazing hotel right in the heart of Alnwick, staff were so friendly, breakfast was delicious. Felt like a home away from home, the rooms were beautiful and importantly replenished with fresh cookies every morning. Couldn’t rate any more highly

In the heart of Alnwick and right next to the castle. Excellent breakfast choice, presentation and flavours. Room was small but nicely decorated. Bathroom modern and good pressure shower. Parking wasn't an issue.

The TV was not easy to see straight on due to where it was positioned. It could be put on a hinge so the angle can be improved.

    10SimonPosted on: 4-6-2025

Great staff and comfortable stylish surroundings

Could have a small fridge in the room.

    10RayPosted on: 4-6-2025

We loved this hotel! The room is one of the biggest we've stayed in; we had dinner on one night, which was excellent. Breakfast is well presented and caters for all tastes, I enjoyed a variety of things from the menu over 3 days. The thing that made this stay most memorable for us though was the staff at the hotel. Without exception, they were friendly and helpful and really couldn't do enough to make our stay a memorable one. We would highly recommend the Cookie Jar.(Be sure to visit the castle too. Only 50 yards away, it's beautiful and, again, the people conducting the tours were brilliant).

A beautifully restored and immaculately furnished boutique hotel in a perfect location close to Alnwick castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel relaxed and very much at home. The restaurant is also to be recommended.

Lovely interior, friendly staff, fantastic location, excellent food

    The room was very warm

    9AlisonPosted on: 3-25-2025

    From a friend

Standard of food a little lower than I expected- great scallops but crab not properly picked and by the time I got the 3rd piece of shell stuck in my teeth I gave up…Also, weirdly, cookies in room excellent but shortbread in dining room poor.Waiting staff felt keen but inexperienced- couldn’t pronounce the wine we chose.Weekday parking could be an issue

    10KevinPosted on: 3-19-2025

Staff were really helpful on check in and provided all relevant information needed for our stay. Local recommendations for walks, pubs etc were also really helpful. Lovely selection for breakfast.
