    Pros +

    • The staff couldn’t do enough.
    • Food was really good, both evening meal and breakfast. Location very pleasant and had a nice ambience to the place.
    • Amazing place to stay. Room was a great size with a very comfortable bed. The bath is a nice touch where you can just unwind. Dinner was great, the food is very rich and filling, same goes for breakfast.

    Cons -

    • The rooms looked a little tired.
    • The room was tired and required some maintenance. The shaving mirror became dangerously hot. Because no one cam back to me when I left messages leading up to the stay, the main restaurant was full and we had to be put in an area of the bar, to which the heating was not working leading to a very cold dining experience I made a complaint the following day and had my drinks refunded off the bill, but the comments had to be passed to the manager and again I had to chase 2 days later for an update. I was offered a% discount off my next stay, but my comments were not answered or anyone concurring with the issues directly I also left my umbrella there and was only offered the chance to collect again (not handy for a mile round trip) If they had offered to post it I would have gladly paid the postage.
    • The only thing I’d change would be to add some rubber matting on the wooden steps up to the lodge- they were quite slippery

Size of the room, the treats, bowl and letter to our dog, the sloe gin and complimentary water. The setting was lovely. Breakast was excellent.

    9TanyaPosted on: 2-18-2026

We stayed in one of the Nooks which was lovely, cozy and had everything we needed. We also dinned here; the food was excellent and the tables spaced well apart so you felt like you had privacy. All the staff were great.

Spacious, modern and extremely comfortable. Pillows to die for with high quality bedding, towels and toiletries. Setting is beautiful. Breakfast was delicious.

The only thing I’d change would be to add some rubber matting on the wooden steps up to the lodge- they were quite slippery

Beautiful location, fabulous accommodation with a large comfy bed and clean facilities.

Nothing to dislike! Maybe a front door mat at reception as I worried about the floors with my muddy feet!!

    5FrancescaPosted on: 2-11-2026

Lovely location, nice car packages in room

No printed out menu in room for room service, room needed a repaint and some repairs was looking quite tired, breakfast service was slow,

The Mill Room West was very well appointed. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud with luxurious bedding. View over the stream and being able to control the heating by Radiator TRV was brilliant as we like it cold to sleep with the windows open .. ( you can have it hot if you like). Best 2 nights sleep I've had in my life !

Amazing attentive staff and the best full English Breakfast with quality products and unrushed table service. Lovely bar to relax in .

We stayed in a pod in the grounds of the hotel, it was exceptionally clean and comfortable. I was concerned as it was cold that the pod would be cold but in fact I had to open a window for a while, the heating had been on full blast, turned it off and all was good. Staff were friendly especially the lady at breakfast. We had the cooked breakfast in the morning and it was the perfect size and the quality was amazing. There were free refreshments in the room which was a nice touch, water, apple juice, sloe gin, coffee, fresh milk and tea bags, that was the best cup of tea I've ever had. I am definitely going to get some of those :)

    It was great

The foyer was very cold due to the ill fitting door which allowed in a very cold wind. The amount of energy being lost was unacceptable. This allowed for a chill when dining in the evening. This problem should be remedied soon.Everything else was fine, the people working there were amazing.

    Lovely room, staff, breakfast.

Dinner too expensive and restaurant cold.

The well-appointed room in the main mill building. Comfortable bed. Loved the old mill features. Bar service was excellent

Complementary biscuits with the tea (rather than sloe gin) in the room would be nice

The atmosphere of the old building

Food in general was very good however for the price the main was very bland.

    8PaulPosted on: 1-20-2026

Great location and unique venue. Food ( evening meal and breakfast) was good quality. Staff were all excellent. The complimentary sloe gin worked a treat

My room was next to a boiler house which only became apparent in the night when noises amplify.
