About
This stunning mansion set in 4 acres of award-winning gardens is located on the edge of the Northumbrian countryside, yet only 10 minutes' drive from the Newcastle city center. The hotel is within a 10 minute walk of the historic Ryton with its ancient church and selection of cafes and restaurants. It is only one mile from Hadrian's Wall walk. The house is only a 10 minute journey from Newcastle center and 5 minutes from the MetroCentre shopping complex. This is a relaxing environment where a warm welcome is guaranteed. Hedgefield House has the interesting distinction of being the 1st private house in England to have a private telephone. Alexander Graham Bell was related, by marriage, to the Simpson family who built the house.
