Amazing location
Great food and very friendly staff
Staff were brilliant, location and the pub itself are lovely. Breakfast was fairly good but the standard of the cooked dishes didn't match the food we've had here before at lunchtime. Room was fairly small but the bed was big and comfortable.
Couldn't get cold water out of the bathroom tap. Bathroom and room were small there wasn't much space to get ready. There were hairs in the bath, tile grout was dirty and there was thick dust at the edges of the carpet and on skirting boards. It didn't feel very clean.
First visit to this pub with rooms. We loved the room and the location. We had our dog with us and he was made welcome too as they had a dog area in the bar/restaurant area. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. What a difference that makes when you are worn out after travelling for hours. The room was like a little chalet separate from the main pub so we could park just outside which was handy for packing and unpacking. Lovely little walk adjacent to the pub so our early morning walk with the dog was no trouble at all. Breakfast was good, the most delicious greek yoghurt and a cooked vegetarian option. They even gave us a couple of sausages for the dog! So kind. We travel to Scotland twice a year so we will definitely be back.
Nothing really. The rain shower was good but I do like the option of an additional hand shower for rinsing and that was not attached to the shower which was unusual.
Staff were excellent.
Cobwebs in room. Extractor fan in bathroom needs a good clean. Room would benefit from a couple of drawers.
The hotel was in lovely, rural location. The setting was attractive and quiet. The pub served food until 9pm as well as breakfast for guests. We ate there and it was tasty and plentiful. We would recommend the Ravensworth Arms, it was a little gem.
There were a few cobwebs in the room and the bathroom had a some mould spots.
Very good breakfast. Very good evening meal. Relaxing stay nice staff.
Nothing to dislike.
The accommodation was excellent. Smart modern rooms with decent facilities. A little cramped but comfy.Restaurant and bar was extensive and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner choices excellent. However the booking in process was abysmal. They couldn't find our booking despite most of the group of 15 being booked in before us.We were given 2 sets of keys that turned out to be for rooms already occupied. A complete shambles. However once in our room everything from then on was fine.
Could have done with a blanket for the bed . As I prefer more on the bed than heating the room . Otherwise, it was perfect
Love the sights and peacefulness of the place. It's my 2nd visit, and I will be back.
Great service and atmosphere.Pillows very hard!! Bed comfy though
Location fine. Beds were clean and comfortable,
Breakfast was luke warm and tasteless. Room on inspection was not clean. Skirtings were dusty paint chipped . bathroom smelt because of shower curtain.
A large pub with a number of rooms, both external to the main building and some upstairs. We stayed in the main pub and had a very comfortable and large room. We didn't have time for breakfast, but had an evening meal, which was enjoyable. The staff were excellent - efficient, friendly & helpful. We took our dog as it was obviously dog friendly, and off the pub car park it had access to a lovely walk around the fields behind the pub.
Nothing to dislike about our stay.
Loved the comfort, only slightly let down by cobwebs ( lots of them) and black mould around the bath tub. It was a particularly windy night outside and the widows not shutting properly meant it was noisy with the rattling. Breakfast - excellent!
The bedding was clean & fresh, the shower was great, the wallpaper was nice, the staff were friendly, breakfast was ‘ok’Location good for visit to Beamish Museum.
Unfortunately the place was somewhat ‘grubby’The headboard was dusty and marked, the bedroom window & lace curtain were filthy, there was black mold in the bathroom and there were huge cobwebs everywhere. The heater ‘clanked’ intermittently, and the neighbours toilet flushing was very loud..We ate in the bar, but had to send it back to get it re-heated as it was lukewarm warm. Thankfully we were there for just one night! The whole place seems to need cleaning, evidence of dust everywhere. A lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss either.
Amazing location just outside of the city.
I always choose to stay at Ravensworth Arms when in the area but this time our stay wasn’t great. Myself and my son were outside in one of the chalets. We arrived in the evening and the radiators in the chalet were turned off so the room was really cold. It was obviously easy to turn them on and eventually the room warmed up but not ideal as we’d been outside in the cold all day. We had an early start the next morning but realised that the room had only been set for one person with only one cup and one bath towel between us. Again, not a big problem but not ideal either.
Friendly staff, welcoming attitude to our dog. Convenient countryside for exercising her,
It would have been nice to have had a lavatory brush in our room. In spite of taking careful aim one occasionally ends up with a skid-mark on the porcelain. A wad of toilet paper is not always convenient or successful and I feel sorry for the poor chambermaid on night-soil duty.
Lovely hotel, lovely room, staff were great
Food was ok for the price, but gutted we had inside main building instead of outside
Staff at the restaurant were amazing and so dog friendly, we will definitely be back this was one of the best dog friendly places we have stayed....highly recommended
the door on our room was sticking really bad and it needed sorting as it was very hard to open and close .
