A friendly hotel with a handy location for Newcastle, Durham and the coast. Lovely buffet provided for the party we attended.

Traffic noise from the nearby A1.

Staff and location. Radiator was not working but staff provided space heater which did the job.

Rooms extremely tired and dated.

The location and downstairs bar is lovely

Not much I'm afraid. Room wasn't clean, too tired to complain.

No-one on reception on arrival when tired not exactly helpful.Room/bathroom dirty. Toilet seat fault, wouldn't stay up, door wouldn't shut. Shower head refused to stay up, I could go on.

Bed hard extractor dirty hanging off ceiling ,towel rail hanging off , shower tray plug dangerous, tap to sink continuously dripping ,so overall very disappointed with room

There was absolutely nothing good about this place. It is in a sorry state of neglect.

It is in a very poor state. It looks nothing like the photos that they advertise.There was damp, mould and rust. Appliances were old and broken. The bedding was very old and did not feel clean. The room hadn’t been decorated in at least a decade. The doors and fittings were not adequate. The lighting was old and didn’t function properly. The furniture was at least 20 years old and in a poor state. The room felt claustrophobic. We left after the first night.

Arrived on a very cold day, no heating on in room. Receptionist told us it's not switched on until 4pm, check-in is 2pm. Booked a superior room with balcony, which did not exist. Room very basic, not as described on Booking.com. Building detritus left outside room. Food tasteless. Hard to escape loud dance music in restaurant. No heating on in restaurant. Continental breakfast almost non-existent.

Badly dated hotel hasn’t changed in 16 years so lots of things wrong with it many of our party had to change rooms

Hotel is not accessible at all rooms were given to us on the top floor and we had to change them

The room was dirty outdated and not accessible for a wheelchair which is what we had asked for, the shower was grubby the remote was broken the heating didn’t work, the only reason we stayed was for a family members party we didn’t want to let them down

The property looked very dated and is in need of a good refurbishment

It was a very cold day and the building was freezing as there was no heating switched on until 16.30 by then we were well and truly frozen to the bone.

The room was nice but small.

There was no plug socket near the mirror for my hairdryer. There was no telephone in the room in case any problems occurred.
