I liked that there was free parking in the back of the hotel and the hotel was very modern downstairs. Philip was a lifesaver and we ended up downgrading to a deluxe suite. That was what we initially had wanted.

I was not feeling well and I needed to get to my room as soon as possible. Hotel employee took care of me quite efficiently and very compassionately as I was a bit pale. She was wonderful. In the morning hotel employee was also a darling ...really efficient and kind.

Top Tips
- Book at least 6 weeks ahead for weekend stays during the late-August Festival International de montgolfières, when local hotels commonly sell out and specific room types like suites or accessible rooms may be limited. Check festival dates each year, as they may vary, and specify any accessibility requirements or loyalty point redemptions when booking.
- Federal GST (5%) and Quebec QST (9.975%) are added to published nightly rates. Use hotel booking apps or the official site for fee transparency, as some hotels display taxes only at final confirmation; confirm your final total at checkout to ensure your budgeting aligns with your actual payment.
- Montréal–Trudeau (YUL) is 40-50 km from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, with typical drive times of 35-50 minutes in light traffic. Prearrange ground transfers with local taxi companies, Uber, or shared shuttle services for reliability, and check if your hotel offers an airport shuttle or group transfer.
- Hotels near Autoroute 35 reduce travel times to both downtown Montreal and Canada–US border crossings by 10-15 minutes. Ask if a hotel provides real-time traffic updates, on-site EV charging, or rooms away from the highway for quieter stays.
- French is the main language in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, but larger hotels provide bilingual service. For smaller inns or B&Bs, request 'anglais' for English support at booking, try a simple French greeting for a warmer welcome, and note that many hotel materials may be bilingual.
- Saint-Jean's municipal tap water is potable and safe year-round, and bottled water is not required unless a boil-water advisory is posted at your property. Fill reusable bottles at most hotel lobbies or guest lounges to support eco-friendly travel.
- Parking terms vary: expect CAD 15-25 nightly at many regional hotels, with some offering free parking or requiring permits. Confirm nightly fees, accessible or EV spaces, and overnight access at booking to avoid unexpected charges.
