Although basic in facilities... my room was clean, cool, and very comfortable! Way impressed with this Motel 6. And, being that my daughter is getting married, and their apartment is 2 blocks away... I now have a 'go-to' place to stay at whenever I visit.

Top Tips
- Book hotel rooms in Duncanville 2-4 weeks in advance, or 2-3 months ahead for peak Dallas/Arlington events and the State Fair, as room availability decreases and rates can increase by up to 25% during major local events. Check event calendars, as sellouts are common 7-10 days prior to major sports and concerts.
- Expect limited public transportation, as most hotels are 15-20 miles from Dallas Love Field and 25-30 miles from DFW Airport. Reserve a rental car or use rideshare services like Uber and Lyft for direct access to Dallas or Arlington attractions, prioritizing hotel locations near I-20 or I-35E for the shortest drive times, typically 20-35 minutes.
- Free self-parking is standard at most hotels in suburban Duncanville, saving guests $15 to $25 per night compared to central Dallas properties. Verify your specific hotel's parking policy before arrival; some may require permits or have limited oversized vehicle spaces.
- Check recent guest reviews (within the last 60 days) on TripAdvisor or Google for details on cleanliness, noise levels—especially at hotels facing I-20—and Wi-Fi speeds of at least 25 Mbps, as these factors can directly affect your stay quality.
- Business travelers should confirm that hotels offer dedicated workspaces and high-speed Wi-Fi with speeds over 25 Mbps. If you plan on video calls or streaming, verify these amenities directly with the property prior to arrival.
- With summer highs above 100°F (38°C) common from June to September, select hotels that offer outdoor pools and modern air conditioning for comfort. Confirm pool operation hours, as some close seasonally or during maintenance.
- For families and pet owners, request pet-friendly rooms and ask for associated nightly fees (typically $15 to $100) or family suite details. Rollaway beds, cribs, and adjoining rooms often require advance notice and may carry a small fee.
- To reduce noise, request a room on the top floor and away from elevators, ice machines, and highway-facing sides. Hotels along I-20 may experience higher traffic noise, so ask for interior corridor rooms for a quieter experience.
- At check-in, hotels place a security hold on your credit card, typically $50 to $200, for incidentals. Confirm the exact amount and release timeline with the front desk, as this varies by chain and property.
- Most U.S. hotels require a valid government-issued photo ID and the credit card used for booking at check-in. Minimum check-in age is typically 18 or 21; verify your hotel’s policy if booking for college-age travelers.
- Expect Texas state and local hotel occupancy taxes totaling 10-18% to be added to the listed nightly rate. Check your booking confirmation for a breakdown of taxes and mandatory hotel fees prior to arrival.
- Request early check-in or late check-out in advance, as availability can vary. Some hotels offer this for no extra charge, but others may add a fee of $15 to $50; ask the front desk about the current policy upon booking.
- Standard U.S. hotel tipping in Texas: bellhops $1-2 per bag, housekeepers $2-5 per night (leave daily), valet $3-5 per retrieval, concierge $5-20 per service. Carry small bills to tip promptly.
- Ask hotel staff for local Tex-Mex or barbecue recommendations; Duncanville and South Dallas are known for smoked meats and tacos at venues like Smoky John's or Ojeda’s within 10 miles. Staff can suggest nearby spots for authentic cuisine.
- Be specific and polite with requests at check-in. For example, ask for a top-floor non-corner room away from the elevator to improve your chances of a quiet stay; staff can accommodate most preferences if available.
- Use the in-room safe or front-desk safety boxes for passports and valuables. Hotel safes in the U.S. typically fit a 15-inch laptop and important documents; verify dimensions if bringing larger items.
- COVID-19 health protocols, including mask use, distancing, and enhanced cleaning, vary by property and season. Confirm current guidelines with your hotel 1-2 days before arrival to stay up to date.
- Plan for high heat and occasional severe storms in Texas, as outdoor activities may be unsafe during peak summer or spring tornado warnings. Review the hotel’s emergency procedures at check-in and confirm onsite sheltered parking if storms are forecast.
- Request accessible rooms, step-free entry, or hearing/visual accommodation in advance if needed. Ask for specifics such as bath rails or roll-in showers, as amenities and compliance may differ by property.
- Review cancellation and refund policies before finalizing your booking. Opt for flexible or refundable rates if your travel plans may change, as most hotels in Duncanville allow free cancellation up to 24-48 hours before arrival.
