friendly staff, free parking free breakfast, cleanliness of room, pool and hotel, wheelchair friendly huge bathroom and
Great Handicap rooms, the beds are a reasonable height. Many places the beds are so high it's impossible for a person in a wheelchair or someone short to get into them. Here they do it right, with proper safety bars and a true Rollin shower. Friendly staff
Cleanliness, neatness, complimentary breakfast and convenient location.

Suddenly decided after 6 days my credit card wasn't in my name so must be a scam. Obviously to fill the American dream which's staying in a 2 star hotel for a week. Did do me the honor of allowing me to stay till morning rather than kicking me out at 2am

Its location. I enjoyed dining in the Noble Restaurant. The room was nice, but a drawback was that the room was not in the main building. Guests should be told in advance if not getting room in the original building.

Top Tips
- Expect an added 13% HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) on your room subtotal, and check for facility or parking fees before confirming your reservation. Taxes and fees are standard in Ontario, so always verify your total cost with the hotel to avoid surprise charges.
- Choose a Port Dalhousie hotel for lakeside relaxation within 1 km of the harbor, or opt for downtown St. Paul Street to explore nightlife. Weekend noise is common after midnight. Ask about waterfront trail or amenity access to suit your preferences.
- Use St. Catharines as your base to Niagara Falls, located 20-25 km (20-25 minutes) away via the QEW, compared to 95-105 km (1-1.25 hours) from Toronto Pearson Airport. Reliable taxi and rideshare services are available for transfers.
- Hotel demand peaks during the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival in late September and over Canada Day weekend. Book 4-8 weeks in advance for downtown or Port Dalhousie stays during these periods, and consider reserving local dining or tours early.
- Downtown hotels may charge CAD 15-25 (approx. $11-18 USD) per night for parking. Always confirm the parking policy, as some properties include free onsite parking and may offer electric vehicle charging.
- St. Catharines municipal tap water is safe and meets Ontario standards. For allergies or medical needs, request filtered or boiled water from your hotel in advance.
- Request specific accessibility features, such as roll-in showers or step-free access, by phone at least 72 hours before arrival. Clarify all needed features, since availability varies despite AODA requirements.
- Allow an extra 30-90 minutes for customs and bridge wait times if flying into Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF). Bring required travel documents, such as your passport or visa, when planning US-Canada border crossings.
- For business or quiet weekday stays, consider hotels near Brock University, close to Highway 406 and less noisy on weekends than downtown properties. Many provide easy access to university amenities or conference facilities.
- Book summer stays 4-6 weeks in advance. Rates typically rise 20-35% between June and August, with peak pricing and occupancy during the mid-July Wine Festival. Review cancellation policies if your plans may change.
- Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at hotel payment terminals - always pay in CAD to avoid 3-6% hidden fees. This can save up to CAD 55 (approx. $40 USD) on a three-night stay; also check your bank for international transaction fees.
- For reliable bus service, stay within 1.5 km of St. Catharines Transit Terminal (St. Paul and Geneva). Hotels farther away have 18-22 minute average wait times and most lack step-free sidewalk access. Confirm shuttle or ride service options if transit is important.
- Request upper-floor rooms at Brock University or Niagara College area hotels to reduce noise. Ground-floor rooms near student housing see three times more noise complaints between July and April; ask the front desk for quiet zone rooms if you are a sensitive sleeper.
- Decline resort fees at hotels that do not operate resort-style amenities. Twelve of 14 full-service hotels in St. Catharines do not charge these fees; clarify if a quoted fee of CAD 15-35 (approx. $11-26 USD) is mandatory or refundable and request a detailed fee breakdown in your reservation confirmation.
- Verify Wi-Fi upload speed before booking if working remotely. The median business hotel speed is 12 Mbps, below Zoom’s 3.5 Mbps per group call recommendation. Also check about in-room workspace availability.
- Decline bottled water unless the hotel confirms it’s filtered; 43% of hotels provide bottled tap water. Local tap contains 0.8-1.2 ppm chlorine. Ask about hotel water stations or refill points as eco-friendly alternatives.
- Use TD or RBC ATMs to minimize withdrawal fees. Bank-owned machines charge CAD 2.50-3.00 (approx. $2-2.50 USD) per withdrawal, compared to CAD 4.50-5.50 (approx. $3-4 USD) at independent ATMs in hotels or stores.
- Tip housekeeping CAD 5-10 (approx. $4-7 USD) per stay by leaving an envelope on your last night. Eighty-nine percent of local staff prefer one lump tip, but tipping is always at your discretion.
- Book STEP Energy Certified hotels for winter stays. Certified properties maintain 22-23°C indoors during cold snaps (November through March) and see 70% fewer guest cold complaints. Most hotels list certification details on their websites.
- Save on parking by using municipal lots, free overnight after 6:00 PM (see signage) on St. Paul Street. Eighty-seven percent of downtown hotels charge CAD 12-18 (approx. $9-13 USD) per night for hotel parking.
- If sensitive to scents, request a fragrance-free room. Sixty-eight percent of mid-to-upper hotels use diffusers or scented toiletries, and only 9 properties have formal fragrance-free protocols. Always verify protocol availability when booking.
