Location, it's quiet and clean.
The option of the suite with a king and 2 queens was fantastic. We're a family of 4 with two teens who would rather not share a bed. Finally - something well priced to accomodate that.
The location is convenient to both calgary and airdrie. Very close to cross iron mall for shopping. The hot breakfast was typical, sausage, eggs, tater tots. My kids loved the pool and water slide.

This hotel is NOT at all value for money. It's too expensive compared to what they charge. The cost-cutting is so evident right from the moment you step in the hotel.

We booked &paid for a room on an upper floor with a balcony , we were put in a floor room with a terrible air conditioner, couldn¿t open a window . The carpets were filthy , smelled like urine and barf . The price was very expensive for the room we got
Friendly atmosphere. Kids loved the pool. There was a large sports team staying there at the same time as us (with 2 little kids) and the front desk person thoughtfully put us further down from them so we wouldn¿t disrupt each other. Would stay again.
Nice renos, very clean and comfy.

Location in relation to the Saddledome, and the bar, lounge, and TVs.
The hotel itself was fine. Sadly some young adults had rooms across the hall from us. They partied all night: screaming, shouting, running through hallways and smashing into walls. Staff were not able to deal with this. So from 2 to 4:30am we were awake

Top Tips
- Ask your hotel if tap water comes from a private well or a municipal supply; most major hotels use municipal water, but some countryside or boutique properties rely on wells. Municipal water meets federal safety guidelines. At check-in, verify water source with reception or posted signage. If sensitive to taste or quality, request complimentary bottled water, which national chain hotels often provide.
- Hotels in the Balzac/Highway 2 corridor are typically a 10-15 minute drive from Calgary International Airport (YYC) and are most likely to offer free airport shuttles. Confirm shuttle frequency and advance booking requirements, as service may be limited outside peak hours or for late arrivals. Contact the hotel directly or check their app or guest portal before booking.
- Review airport shuttle and park-and-fly package conditions before booking; many require advance reservations and may limit shuttle schedules. Confirm overnight parking rates (per night) and shuttle hours to avoid unexpected charges. Search for 'Stay & Park' or 'Park & Fly' deals for bundled savings, especially during busy periods, and book shuttle slots ahead.
- In winter (November-March), prioritize hotels on Highway 2 or Stoney Trail, as Alberta Transportation clears these key routes first for safer access. Many major hotel chains in the area offer winter vehicle plug-ins and weather update boards at reception. For extra comfort, consider properties with heated indoor parking.
- Reduce late-night rural driving to limit wildlife collision risk, especially with deer at dawn and dusk. Choose a hotel within a short drive or walking distance of your main destination (such as CrossIron Mills, Century Downs, or the airport). Several nearby hotels offer pedestrian paths or short, well-lit drives, and guests with accessibility needs can request shuttle rides or accessible parking close to entrances.
- Book 2-4 weeks in advance for major events like Century Downs live racing, concerts, or big CrossIron Mills sales, as these drive high demand and limited hotel availability in Balzac. Sign up for hotel loyalty programs or email alerts to access early booking windows and special offers. If your plans are flexible, choose properties with free cancellation options.
- Check your booking confirmation for lodging surcharges: Alberta charges only 5% federal GST and Rocky View County properties usually do not have a Calgary municipal accommodation tax. Some hotels may apply a Destination Marketing Fee (DMF) of 2-4% of your room rate. Ask for a detailed itemized breakdown at check-in if fees are unclear; major hotel chains typically display all taxes and fees on digital confirmations.
