Top Tips
- Book Kingman hotels 1 to 2 weeks in advance for the best rates. Weekend prices typically increase by 15-25% if booked less than 7 days ahead, especially during Route 66 events. Reserve early to get more room options and avoid surge pricing.
- Budget an additional 4-5% for Kingman's Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), which applies to all licensed lodging. Review your booking summary for this tax before completing payment.
- Choose hotels along Historic Route 66 (Andy Devine Ave) to discover unique vintage décor and direct access to classic diners such as Mr. D'z Route 66 Diner and local attractions. These properties are typically 5-10% more expensive than hotels off the main highway.
- If working remotely, verify Wi-Fi speeds before booking. Most Kingman hotels offer free Wi-Fi with average download speeds of 15-30 Mbps, which covers web browsing and email, but video conferencing quality may vary.
- Check if your hotel charges a $15 destination fee that covers amenities like Wi-Fi, pool use, gym access, breakfast, or local shuttle. This fee may be bundled with your booking or noted as optional - review your reservation details for clarity.
- Kingman’s municipal water meets safety standards for drinking, and hotel ice is also made from municipal water. Some guests choose bottled water for taste preferences, as tap water comes mainly from filtered groundwater sources.
- Many Kingman hotels cater to motorcyclists with secure parking and wash stations due to the city’s Route 66 popularity. Ask about motorcycle amenities and accessible parking or step-free access if needed when booking, especially during peak dates.
- Public transportation in Kingman is limited. For easier access to dining and attractions, stay near Andy Devine Ave or downtown, and ask about accessible rooms or step-free paths if needed. Plan to use a rental car or personal vehicle for reaching sites outside walking distance.
