Nothing! The hotel was outdated, old and I am almost sure I saw a cockroach in the bathroom!

Comfortable bed
There was nothing to like. See below. It was gross. You would second guess leaving your animals if this was a pet hotel. Plus the listing stated free breakfast. There was zero breakfast.

Atmosphere of the "campus" overall. Liked the meals. Seemed a bit understaffed like the hotel is struggling a bit.
staff and location
The beds and pillows were wonderful. Very spacious bathroom. Nice full length mirror. Extremely quiet hotel. Gorgeous surroundings to the building. There is a large grass area where children could run around. It is not a 'play area.'

Very nice and helpful staff. Clean room, comfortable bed
Upon initially arrival we had to request another room. The first room and no working electricity and the floor was sticky (ewwww). Our room exchange worked out much better but odd little things took away from the experience.
Check in was very quick and easy. Room was extremely clean and spacious. Plus very nice bathroom and kitchen amenities included. Location was perfect in the middle of Richmond and King¿s Dominion. A great room at a great price!

Top Tips
- Secure your preferred room type by booking 60-90 days ahead of major events like the Virginia State Fair (late September) or Kings Dominion’s summer weekends; rates during these peaks can rise by 10-40%, and many deals are non-refundable. Confirm the cancellation policy before finalizing your reservation for maximum flexibility.
- If Doswell hotel vacancies or rates are unfavorable during major events, expand your search to Ashland (10 mi south) or Mechanicsville (15 mi southeast), both offering additional national and mid-scale hotel options commonly serving Kings Dominion guests. Compare loyalty benefits and amenities to match your travel preferences.
- Expect to drive or arrange rideshare, as Doswell and Kings Dominion are not served by direct public transit. Several hotels offer park shuttle service during weekends and event periods; verify shuttle hours and ADA accessibility with the property before booking.
- Check for parking fees at Doswell hotels - rates typically range from $15 to $20 per night and can equal Kings Dominion single-day parking. For extended visits, confirm if extended-stay parking or park-and-stay packages are available to optimize value.
- Request a room located away from I-95 and upper floors facing Kings Dominion to minimize noise, as properties in this area may be within 500 m (0.3 mi) of the highway and park. For enhanced comfort, ask about rooms with blackout drapes or soundproofing features when available.
- Review event calendars for both Kings Dominion (kingsdominion.com/events) and Meadow Event Park (meadoweventpark.com) before selecting travel dates, as regional occupancy rates can spike by 25-50% during overlapping weekend events. Adjust your timing or secure reservations early to avoid limited choices and higher rates.
