Very cute themed rooms. Overall great experience. Front desk staff are characters. Be sure to arrive early, this is a mom & pop shop not a corporate place, they appreciate punctuality. Many food options nearby.
Dog friendly, great location. Room was clean but there are clearly some underlying issues with plumbing/structure.

Friendly staff
I had to cancel my stay immediately after seeing the room smelling strong cigarettes and marijuana embedded permanently in the walls and furnitures the kind you cannot get rid off. The carpet had numerous dog pee stains.

I like the welcoming attitude of the staff.
Front desk staff were friendly and courteous! Each encounter we were greeted with a smile and always asked if there is anything we needed. Kudos to front desk reps! Also to the awesome kitchen staff that provided the delicious food!
No review. We were relocated to another hotel due to "unforeseen circumstances". The new hotel, although missing some of the features which caused us to select Residence Inn (other family staying there, microwave, full fridge, free breakfast)

We ended up not staying here. While we knew it was a 2 star hotel, the description said there were restaurants and the beach within walking distance. The closest restaurant was a 40 minute walk and the beach was 20 minutes.
No. Just no. Picked this hotel based on the reviews and no. Old building. Loud. Small and gross. I didn't even stay the night.
Not much. The location was very convenient.

Top Tips
- Book Del Mar hotels 60-90 days before major events such as the San Diego County Fair (June-July) or Del Mar Racetrack summer meets, as these attract over 1 million attendees each year. Advance booking helps avoid limited availability and steep rate increases; check cancellation policies if your travel dates are not fixed.
- Allow 25-40 minutes for travel from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to Del Mar, which is about 22 miles away, during light traffic. Plan for 35-60 minutes during afternoon or evening peak times on I-5. Consider arranging airport transfers or a hotel shuttle in advance if available.
- Arrive in Del Mar via the Solana Beach rail station, located about 2-3 miles south of Del Mar Village and served by COASTER and Amtrak. Use a short rideshare or bus connection to your hotel, since most are not within walking distance of the station. Ask your hotel if a shuttle from the rail station is offered.
- Expect concentrated traffic, road closures, and evening noise during Del Mar Fairgrounds events. Choose accommodations more than 1 mile from the fairgrounds or verify with your hotel whether alternate exit routes are available for smooth departures and quieter nights.
- Street parking in Del Mar Village is limited, with curb and permit restrictions plus short time limits at metered spots. Confirm that your hotel provides onsite parking or budget for rideshare and paid lots, especially if you have mobility needs. Ask about accessible parking availability to ensure a suitable option.
- Prepare for 'June Gloom' and a marine layer in late spring and early summer, when daytime highs often reach only 18-22°C (mid-60s to low 70s°F). Pack a light windbreaker or a warm layer for comfort while exploring the coast or using outdoor hotel amenities.
- Del Mar hotels adhere to regional water conservation, providing daily housekeeping only by request or rotating linen service. If you need daily cleaning or specific amenities such as a heated pool or hot tub, confirm availability during booking, especially if you have accessibility or health needs.
- If bringing a pet, verify your hotel's pet policy and any related fees, as rules vary on weight limits and whether charges apply per night or per stay. Request written confirmation of all pet details to prevent additional charges at checkout. Local beaches and paths often welcome pets but may have seasonal access limits.
