The location was beautiful - it is right on the water and we had a view of the sea. Breakfast was the best we had in Ireland - very generous and everything was tasty. Thr staff were incredibly friendly and helpful

It was beautiful, and the breakfast was delicious.
Lady running breakfast was the best thing of the hotel. Would come back again for her and her politeness. Made us feel at home. The house is stunning, not a big fan of the new modern look
Hotel bell¿simo, pulito , cucina stupenda, consigliato

The location and carpark made it a very convenient stay
The location was excellent and very central. Finding the parking was a bit difficult and there is no valet or signs. We had to park on the street and go into talk to the receptionist. There was a great coffee bar downstairs as well.
I have been to the Clarion in Cork twice over the last 5 years. The reception staff is impressive and gave great recommendations for a superb Italian dinner in Cork. The health club is terrific with a pool and cold and hot water spa tubs.

Top Tips
- Book Cork hotels 3 to 4 months ahead of the Cork Jazz Festival in October to secure baseline rates. Prices typically surge 40-60% closer to the event.
- Select hotels in the Mardyke or Sunday’s Well neighborhoods for rates 15-20% below city center averages. Both areas are within a 1.2 km walk to University College Cork.
- At hotel check-in, choose to pay in EUR and decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). This avoids 5-8% surcharges on non-euro card transactions.
- Request a floor plan to confirm step-free access, as only 30% of Cork’s 3-star and above hotels provide elevators. For accessibility, consider ground-floor rooms.
- Prioritize hotels with EU Ecolabel certification, which requires 15-20% water savings through low-flow systems. Look for this certification on the hotel’s official website.
- For reliable high-speed Wi-Fi (95+ Mbps), choose hotels on South Mall or Washington Street. Rural outskirts commonly offer slower speeds of 15-30 Mbps.
- Pre-book taxis from Kent Station using the FreeNow app to save €5–€8 (about $15 to $15) per ride compared to street taxis. This app is widely accepted locally.
- For quieter stays near Lower Glanmire Road (A7), request courtyard-facing rooms. Traffic noise in front-facing rooms can exceed 65 dB at night, while courtyard rooms average around 45 dB.
- Check if your nightly rate includes the 21% VAT and €1–€2 (about $15 to $15) per person tourist tax. These fees can add 23-24% if not included upfront.
- Bring a reusable water bottle, as Cork’s tap water is safe for drinking. This can save €3.50–€5 (about $15 to $15) daily compared to buying bottled water at hotels.
- Tip 10% for full-service dining only. Tipping is not expected for breakfast or bar service, aligning with standard Irish customs.
- Withdraw cash from ATMs inside Bank of Ireland branches, such as St. Patrick’s Street, for the lowest fees (€1.50–€2.50 or $15 to $15). Hotel or kiosk ATMs typically charge €4–€6 ($15 to $15).
