Being on the water
The location is amazing. The beach is beautiful. The property is really nice but our room 210 smelled like unhealthy mold. It was so disappointing since we paid --- for 3 nights. We paid so much money and our room was terrible

Top Tips
- Hurricane season in the Florida Keys is June 1 to November 30. Confirm each property's written cancellation and evacuation policy before booking so you understand refund windows, which may vary by brand or year.
- Fly into Marathon Airport (MTH), about 2–3 miles from most hotels, for ground transfer savings of 1 to 3 hours compared to Key West or Miami. Check available flight routes to MTH before booking.
- Rates are typically 30% to 50% higher from December to April, with price spikes on holiday weekends like New Year's and Easter. Book 60 to 90 days ahead to secure availability and avoid last-minute surcharges.
- Many Marathon hotels charge separate daily fees for boat slip or trailer parking, often $15 to $40 per night. Confirm availability and rates for dock and trailer parking if arriving with watercraft or trailers.
- Grocery options in Marathon include Publix (5407 Overseas Hwy), which offers extended hours and accessibility features. Stock up here to avoid a 2-hour round trip to Key West for specialty items; some hotels may also offer Instacart or local grocery delivery.
- Power outages are possible during storms or routine grid work. Check each hotel's generator policy and pack a 10,000-20,000 mAh power bank for phones or medical devices, especially during hurricane season.
- Local law encourages reef-safe sunscreen, so avoid oxybenzone or octinoxate formulas. Expect eco-measures like reduced towel changes and on-site water refill stations to help protect reefs and lower plastic waste.
- Wi-Fi speeds can range from single digits up to 100+ Mbps in Marathon hotels depending on property and room. If you need to work remotely, request typical Mbps speeds before booking and ask about quiet hours or dedicated business centers.
