It's a Marriott property, what's not to like?
Marriott Courtyard was clean, updated and staff was polite.
I did not get to go because of the weather in Georgia wrecking havoc on our highway. But you all full well know that because you kept the money for the 2 days the hotel did not charge me for. You dealt dirty with me and I will never forget it.

Top Tips
- Reserve 1 to 3 months ahead for top rates. Fort Myers Beach hotels are about 16 mi (25 km) from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), and demand climbs November to April. Compare rates on Booking or Expedia for beachfront properties or Sanibel/Captiva locations.
- Review cancellation and hurricane policies before booking, as hurricane season runs June to November. Seek flexible or refundable rates and verify the hotel’s official storm policy for peace of mind.
- Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) offers on-site rental counters. Many hotels run shuttles—call to confirm exact hours and clarify any shuttle fees before arrival.
- Ask each hotel for the full nightly total, including parking, resort fees, and bed taxes. Properties often add charges at check-in, so confirm to avoid unexpected costs.
- Most hotels require guests to be 21+, plus a government-issued ID and credit card at check-in. Ask in advance about required deposits or incidental holds to avoid surprises.
- Clarify pet and smoking policies, as many hotels are smoke-free and some limit pets by weight or room type. Service animals are always permitted by law even if regular pets are restricted; fines apply for in-room smoking.
- If your schedule is tight, request early check-in or late check-out in advance. Most hotels offer complimentary luggage storage before room readiness or after check-out.
- For business stays, check whether Wi-Fi is free or paid, the typical speed, and if business centers or quiet rooms are available. Request a room away from elevators for focused work time.
- Select your area based on travel goals. Beachgoers choose Fort Myers Beach or Sanibel/Captiva for shelling and sunsets, about 16-26 mi (25-42 km) from RSW. Downtown Fort Myers (River District) offers walking access to museums and restaurants, and some beaches have accessible mats or boardwalks for mobility needs.
- Read recent reviews for details on noise, cleanliness, odors, AC function, and pest reports—especially during spring break. Search locally for mentions of mosquitoes, palmetto bugs, or neighborhood events.
- Bring reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 30+ recommended), a sun hat, lightweight clothing, sunglasses, and mosquito repellent. Some parks, like J.N. 'Ding' Darling, may require long sleeves for extra sun or bug protection.
- Tipping in the U.S. averages 15 to 20% at restaurants, $15 per day for housekeeping (optional), $15 per bag for bellhops, and $15 for valet parking. Most hotels start quiet hours at 10 p.m.
- Use the hotel concierge or front desk to book local fishing charters, shelling tours, or nature preserve visits (like J.N. 'Ding' Darling). Staff can advise on beach safety and spot rip current warnings.
- Do not leave valuables in vehicles. Most top hotels offer complimentary in-room safes—store passports and electronics there—and use a waterproof pouch for valuables at the beach or on boats.
- Follow lifeguard flags and posted safety info, especially about rip currents and marine life. To lower jellyfish or shark risk, avoid wading at dawn or dusk in shallow water and drink water to stay hydrated.
- Try fresh local seafood like grouper or stone crab (in season mid-October to May) and native fruit specialties. Ask your hotel about less common markets and local favorites.
- If you need cribs, rollaway beds, kitchenettes, or laundry for kids, confirm availability and cost at booking. Portable cribs or rollaways may carry a nightly fee of $15 to $25 and are subject to availability.
- If you need mobility or ADA accessibility, contact the property to confirm features like step-free entry, visual alarms, or TTY devices; standards can differ by hotel. Extended parking and long-stay rates are available at some locations.
- Expect busy roads during festivals (like Edison or Ford events), art fairs, or spring break. Island access such as Sanibel/Captiva toll roads cost about $6 per car (2024 rates), so pre-load a toll pass app if driving.
- Request upgrades or report issues promptly at the front desk for faster help. Use hotel mobile app chat or official messaging if you need support or wish to request an upgrade outside desk hours.
