Cons -
- If you're looking for a tranquil escape, this isn’t it. The place is a lot bigger than it looks online and there are a lot of guests with kids. The rooms are very small and poorly equipped for what you pay for (no shower products, not even a bottle of water in the room, etc). Because it’s quite remote you’re probably going to have to eat at their restaurant. The portions are small and the price is high. Also, if you’re vegetarian this is terrible for you. The veggie options are a joke but still cost you a lot. Also it’s very cold in the restaurant, we went in the December and I had to keep my puffer jacket on. We also had to wait 95 minutes for our main course which then turned out to be reheated, flavourless risotto. We were so disappointed with this place…
- Disappointed compared to our previous visit. The staff was not enough to handle all the visitors. Huge waiting times for a lot of things. Had to ask repeatedly for the something before eventually getting served. Breakfast was a disaster: one of the coffee machines was not working, big commotion in the breakfast hall, considerably smaller selection of food choices than before. The bikes are long due for replacement. Overall, I felt like I was getting less than what I paid for.
- facilities for getting changed in the spa area seemed very small and quickly got cramped when more than one person wanted to change/shower at a time. We found the breakfast more basic than we would have liked as we have some food intolerances There were no hot items but there was good quality fresh bread, cereal fruit, cheese and ham and boiled eggs.

We loved the place - beautiful surroundings, nice and comfortable rooms, amazing food, places to relax and wellness facilities. We had a great stay and would love to come back one day for a longer one to try even more facilities and activities.
When we were there, there was a big conference happening so 80% of the spaces were privatised which no one informed us ahead of arrival. It made dining and relaxing options very limited. Apparently this happens often so I would check in with the property, especially if you're only staying one night as this doesn't allow you to fully experience what this property has to offer. The staff were amazing though and did all they could to accommodate us for dinner. Thank you so much for that!
Lovely stay! Extraordinary friendly en helpful staff. Stunning views of the pastures. Very well maintained grounds. Very comfortable room with nice view. Had a very nice diner in the restaurant.
Many written information (leaflets, e-mail communication) is in French. Many travelers might be better in understanding English. It could be an idea to create more shadow on the parking spot.
Super kids friendly, nice staff and great activities!
Le lit pas très confortable.Deux lit 70 comme lit Queen size :/
Charming, tranquil hotel, very friendly team/service, delicious dinner (good selection, nice wines), and tasty breakfast in a cool atmosphere
the beds are very basic - the sauna and steam room are good - the pool or other wellness/relaxation options are missing
Site and room was lovely, facilities were simple but great
Staff were terrible, some of them rude particularly a long haired brunette with glasses. Staff seemed very young and had not been properly trained. Not bringing spoons with coffees, not serving items correctly, additional items added to the bill, going off to ask questions and never returning. We checked that there was vegan options before we visited and we're told that there was a vegan option on every course at every meal. This was not the case. We had a nightmare trying to get something put together. This was however rectified on the final night where I had to suggest something for the chef to make. Not ideal but was very nice. It was my partners birthday that night which I informed them of several times and they advised they would do something special, no on even said happy birthday. I do have to say that the young dark haired lad and the chap who made us our morning soya lattes were lovely and extremely helpful, it's just a shame about the rest.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent restaurant and breakfast. Great walks and places to explore in the local area. A very relaxing short stay.
The location is great and very peaceful. Food at the restaurant is good but too expensive (Parisian prices). The room has very nice view over a small lake.
Way too expensive for the service. Too crowded, there is no space to chill except your room. Please use the sport room and build a living room for people to chill, work, read. Being surrounded by kids running everywhere wasn't pleasant at all. It smell horses in the reception and mud, the sofas were dirty and doesn't make you want to sit. The worst thing was the service, the waiters were completely lost : they don't know the wine menu, they mix plates, they are very slow and not always nice. At some point they tried to light a fire and the entire restaurant was full of smoke. I am ok to pay 220 euros for a night but at that price I expect way more. I went to the sources of cheverny a few weeks ago and it was so much better, you should learn from them.
Everything. Beautiful location, exceptionally friendly staff, delicious food and very welcoming. We went hiking on both days we were there. The bonus was we could take our dog and cat as the Barn is very pet friendly. The restaurant, reception and kitchen staff were all excellent. The quality of the food is very high and the menu changes for every meal. The reception team were accommodating and the restaurant team was attentive. We liked it so much we have already booked 2 nights over the Christmas holidays.
Nothing!Ff
Every single staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. Many were delightful to deal with.My room, which had a semi private little courtyard to sit out in the sun and watch the robins hopping around was large and very comfortable. There are many activities to choose from - unfortunately the weather was wet and windy, but there are many warm and cosy areas to sit in and enjoy a book or just watch the weather. The food in the restaurant is tasty, very French and fresh - some of it grown on site. They also have a very efficient laundry service which I appreciated as a traveller on the road for three months!I went for long walks and generally had a lovely relaxing time.
The website gives the impression this is a smallish, quiet, boutique hotel, so I was surprised to find a car park with about 50 cars in it on my arrival. It's really more like a large, beautifully designed summer camp for adults (and children (and dogs)). Once you appreciate this and adjust your expectations, (breakfast gets busy and noisy from 9am) the place is wonderful.
friendly staff, nice rural location
Beds: they are simply too small. Single beds were at least 1 size too small. It is a place for those that cherish horseback riding and those that like the spa.For passers by (like we were) the facilities are meagre
Everything. Le Barn is simply the best child-friendly place we have ever visited. Yet, it is also the most adult-friendly place too. There are lots of activities for kids, nature-inspired, the breakfast and overall the food at the restaurant is amazing. The 16+ spa area is wonderful and tranquil. The ayurverdic massage is a must. Le Barn shares the estate with the horseback riding school La Cense, and that in itself is fantastic - there are 6 ponies that the smaller children can take for a walk but also lessons, etc. The hotel organizes lots of events - mini olympics, archery, after lunch walks in the forest, fishing, etc. There are numerous bike trails too. We brought our own bikes but the hotel had Woom Bikes of every size + electric cargo bikes and other adult bikes too. There is a community room for children to play, watch a movie and eat their dinner on a looong table full of kids (babysitter is watching them). I can go on and on :) But we will be happy to come back one day.
Nothing, loved it all.
Lovely setting, very peaceful and nice views from the room. Really dog friendly, great grounds for them to enjoy and welcome in all areas of the hotel. Food was also good for both dinner and breakfast.
The rooms, though relatively stylish, are quite basic and not terribly comfortable. Not too many amenities or comforts - sparingly furnished and equipped. Fine for a short stay.
Great location, cozy rooms and enjoying horses!
Breakfast good flexible cut off time appreciatedCozyNice staff
With the multiple dining and seating areas something to consider is a designated work zone or designated NO WORK zone. There’s many guests working on their computers and taking work calls. There should be a designated area for this or a “no computer no phone calls” area ao guests that are actually trying to escape work can enjoy themselves and not be around all the anxious computer work energy.
Food was very good including breakfast. Great walks for our dogs. Beautiful surroundings.
Ashtray with cigarette stubs on balcony. Non smoking hotel? Mugs were not clean . Also just left one sachet of tea and coffee which is a little mean. Went to bar for a pre meal cocktail, took 15 minutes to be served. Also fire alarm was set off in middle of night by someone smoking…our dogs went crazy. No apologies from anyone which was disappointing.
The village was nice, the horses, the small lake and etc
The room was so tiny and looks poor. There was not conditioner
beautiful decordelicious dinnerlovely groundsbikes
pillows were uncomfortable there was no window and it was very hot
