Riu Dunamar - All Inclusive

Always clean, the staff was constantly making every effort to keep it clean and safe for all!

Nothing around it to do. If you are at the Dunamar, you can’t visit the RIU next door. But their guests could come to our resort. Did not make sense to me.

It was clean and everyone was so friendly

The only thing negative I can say is that the food in the restaurants wasn’t that good. The buffet was excellent but the strip was over cooked . And the steaks weren’t that good

The dogs walking while were eating, they charge you for house keeping doing there job, the drinks are nasty in the room, be lying about reservations, be lying about credits on the room, and difficult with getting back in threw the gate, resort food is nasty

The front desk experience was a highlight. The woman who checked us in was extremely kind and welcoming, and I have no complaints about the front desk staff at all. The room, pools and the beach were all nice.

Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. The restaurants outside of the buffet were not good overall. I ordered a seafood dish at the Italian restaurant, and the shrimp were not deveined. After that experience, I noticed that shrimp were not deveined at any of the restaurants, which was very off-putting and affected my willingness to eat seafood during the stay.Another uncomfortable experience was at the gift shop. The women working there followed me closely around the store each time I went in. This is a beach resort, so my daughter and I were usually in swimwear with cover-ups. It felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, and it was hard not to feel profiled, especially since there was no reason to suspect theft.One thing I didn’t realize when booking was that there is no room service. Normally that wouldn’t be a dealbreaker, but I became extremely sick during the trip and could barely get out of bed. Having room service during that time would have made a huge difference.

There are five pools to choose from and five restaurants. The food was good, with a large selection. They offered activities during the day and shows every night. The beachfront view was really nice and amazing. You can also schedule many activities outside the resort every day.

The rooms are not very soundproof, you can hear people in the hallway or in other rooms. There is no reservation system for the restaurants, so it’s first come, first served, but they close at 8:30 pm and stop taking guests around 8:00 pm.However, you can always find food at the buffet, which has a wide selection. These are only minor issues, we loved the place.

The beach is the best thing about this location. It’s beautiful and well shaded. There are always loungers available and the staff is nice. The pools are clean. The water slides are great for kids. Where they really shine is with the staff. The people working there are friendly, helpful and professional. I didn’t run into a single unhelpful person anywhere. They are truly lovely. There is a photography service on site called Photopro. They’re located in the gift shop. We scheduled a family photo shoot with them and they did a great job. I would highly recommend them. Lovely people and it was a good deal. I love the pictures!The place is immaculate. It’s clean everywhere. It’s easy to get fresh towels for the pool or beach. It’s easy to get a drink almost anywhere. Boogie boards are available at the beach for free if the water is calm enough. It’s nice that they include this. The kids’ club has fun activities for the kids and good security measures in place so that you feel safe to leave your children there if you want. The mini bar in the room is stocked with included drinks. This is very convenient and thoughtful.

It’s too far from anything else. The food isn’t good and you have nowhere else to go to eat. The food wouldn’t matter so much if you could walk somewhere else to get other options. Some of the food is ok so you won’t starve but in general it’s just not well made. They attempt to make it fancy but either the spice is too overdone or the food isn’t cooked well. They try to make it international but fail by not perfecting at least one style of cuisine. And there is hardly any local food at all. I am not a picky eater and neither is my family so it’s hard for us to be disappointed. Again - you won’t starve but they could do a lot better. You can tell they source low quality things. The pastries are not fresh they taste like cardboard. The coffee tastes stale. Fish is over salted. Everything they “cook” comes out of bags that they heat up at the stations. I watched a cook scoop pre cooked bacon out of a vat and then put it in a dish to serve. Onion rings out of a bag. Chow mein noodles out of a bag. Flautas precooked out of a bag, etc. It’s just not high quality food. It’s food from the freezer section at the supermarket and not Trader Joe’s.There is also a lot of available land on the property that could be used for a dedicated tennis court or pickle ball. They could also have lawn games out all the time like corn hole. They don’t have these things. It would be nice if they did. They do have corn hole but only when the Riu team is out with it. I also asked for playing cards or to see if they had games available. The only option was to purchase cards in the gift shop. Also the parties they throw at night are loud and last very late but then the next morning house keeping starts rolling carts loudly outside the rooms around 7-8am. Doesn’t make sense.

The gift shop a woman kept following us around the store. We are black. She did not do this to other people in the store that were white/latino etc.

All personnel were very friendly. Very clean, great towels, nice facilities. Great room towels. Food was not so good, as we used to have it at other all inclusives.

Too many people at a time made it difficult to find a seat. And too many kids touching food that later looks just disgusting. There should be some control over kids returning food from their plates. We did not come back to the buffet. Too many people with their own music in the RIU part of the beach, so it was difficult to concentrate on my reading. The sea brought wood and garbage (guess from the hurricane in Jamaica)that the hotel did not bother cleaning. I don't mean the seaweed, I mean trach. No shade at the beach. We´ll go back to hotels with palapas. Kids are beautiful, but when they scream at 5 am, you hate your hotel. RULES.

The food was not great. The WiFi did not work. We found ourselves leaving the resort to go get food. They don’t offer shuttles if you book through a third party like booking.com. We used a lot of Ubers. The staff only restocked towels, they didn’t restock the mini bar. The phone in the room didn’t work. We asked them to fix it, they said the wouldn’t and they never did.

Property was clean, friendly staff, great food and excellent service! Beautiful resort and beach!

The staff in the gift store shop were not courteous if you decided not to purchase items. The wanted to sell me a bag for the items that was gonna purchase so I changed my mind so she became ugly I’m not gonna. Buy items and then purchase the bag from you to put them in also..

Most of the services provided were good.

1) no prompt response to messages via LinkedIn, 2) absence of flexibility in relationships with customers (no changes in initial booking allowed)3) absence of flexibility for families with small kids, who do not need separate beds, but the families are forced to buy larger apartments, +1 additional room in my case4) food not available 24/7, except for cocktails and alcohol5) services of water station not presented clearly6) hotel is located remotely from airport and town of Cancun, but does not have its own regular shuttle or anything. During rains it is hardly possible to get to the airport of regular cars, need smth more off-road. It is easy to miss your flight.
