    • The staff was amazing, despite the language barrier. The food was terrific and there is simply no beating the views!

    • Location right next to beach with view from room. Quiet area.

    Cons -

    • The hotel is tucked away in the northwestern part of the island so it's hard to get to if you don't have a car. Buses do not run regularly on the island
    • The property looked like it had seen better times. The bed was comfortable but the comforter was not. I was expecting a bit more for the price.
    • I would have appreciated instructions in English about how to operate heating/air conditioning unit. It would have been helpful to have information about the nearest restaurants/cafes. We missed the hotel turnoff at night so better signage would have been helpful.

The food was really imcredible - so many delicious Japanese dishes for dinner and breakfast. Only 4 guest room and each looks out onto the sea. Staff were superb especially the 81 year old working manager who is so sweet! No one speaks English there although our group speak Japanese. We used this as a base to do the 30KM Jomon Sugi (cedar) hike to one of the world's oldest trees - some 7000 years old. Tough hike in light rain and slippery in places but well worth it.

The majority of the rooms are beachfront/beach view. Great, ultra-modern shower & toilet. Good location on perimeter road; quiet (except for the surf)! Pleasant staff. Remote controlled window blind. Refrigerator. WiFi. A comfortable mix of up-to-date and traditional. Room (double with two beds) is on the small side as far as dealing with suitcases, etc., but not impossible

Marine Blue is not easy to see from the road. The road sign (at the parking lot) is in Japanese. (The sign doesn't say "Marine Blue" In English; the only English is "Turtle's Hometown.")Manager wants to clean the room daily; we're used to skipping housekeeping to save water etc. We used the "do not disturb" sign.

Ocean in front of the room, in a way close to nature and remote. Nice to walk from room on terrace

We had a car. WITHOUT A CAR YOU ARE TRAPPED. We do not speak Japanese, that was a problem even with google translate. We are vegetarian/ pescatarian that was very difficult though the landlady tried her best to fulfill our wishes. Otherwise good quality of food. Landlady a bit bizarre.

Staying right on the beach was lovely. The food was really good and while eating dinner you get to watch a beautiful sunset. Seeing the turtle tracks in the morning from the egg laying was really cute. Only 15 mins to Isso beach for some great snorkeling. I saw a loggerhead turtle there.

We both don't speak Japanese and we found communication with the staff here harder than other hotels. Also, you can't access the beach between 8 pm and 5 am due to turtles laying eggs (we were there in early July). Also, we were told the beach is not a good place to swim. The patio area is shared, so you can hear people walking down to the beach if they are not quiet.

The location was amazing, overlooking Inakahama - the most beautiful, white, sandy beach. Our room was very clean, and with a fabulous view. Our hosts were excellent - we managed to overcome the language barrier using Google translate, to very good effect. They provided us with a wonderful evening meal, and a tasty Western-style breakfast, upon request. We were very lucky to see a turtle taking her eggs at night - we made sure to be very unobtrusive and resisted the temptation of photographing her. A beautiful experience! We wish we had stayed an extra day to further enjoy the stunning beach and lovely food!

Super friendly manager, beautiful location, homely and spacious facilities. And no tv in the room!!

It's difficult to get any food outside the accommodation. But with good planning, this is not an issue.

An absolutely beautiful location. The lovely older woman who operates this place could also be a professional chef of the highest order!! I would recommend paying the extra for the dinner & breakfast package, you will enter into a food coma the likes of which you have never encountered. The first meal on arrival was something to behold!

we didn't get to see the turtles. I would recommend booking well in advance for the tour.

Friendly and helpful owner, with the help of Google translate !Good food in hotel, breakfast and dinner ( needs to be reserved in advance)Close to bus stop.

As the buses are fairly infrequent, should have hired a car.

    beach location

staff unfriendly , not accommodating . breakfast at 8.30 .. no choice . was left on table to get cold at 8.30. arrived late after big storm . very wet . had to check out next day at 10 am .. asked to pay for later check out . hotel not full . told NO .. as someone wanted to check in early and leave their bags in our room. no discussion. no food available in the evening .

the two ladies running this place were wonderfull. great meals, astonishing views. you can just just walk from your bedroom to the beach.

Excellent location, the hotel is very close to the beach and to the bus stop, and the accommodation is very confty and pretty. The owner is super nice, I highly recommend this place.

perfect view of the beach from each room. nice terrasse. onsen was a +.

    a little bit expensive

    9DerekPosted on: 4-4-2022

It was right next to the beach, super beautiful despite it being cloudy. The dinner was also well worth the price, everything was delicious and I could barely move after eating it all. The owner also made me a bento instead of my paid for breakfast because I was checking out extremely early for a hike.

The water in the tap took a long time to heat up, parking wasn't super clear.

the staff was adorable and the food excellent

the location is a little remote and it is better have a car

The property is right on the beach. It was very nice to hear the waves during your stay although it was still a little cold during our stay. The food was well prepared with good variety over the few days that we stayed. Need to have your own car as this place is not close to anything other than the beach (this was a positive for us but may not be for others). The hotel is run by a very nice lady that took care of us. Even though she didn’t speak any English we are able to communicate enough for what we needed. The hotel is not the most luxurious but it is also far from being shabby. It needs updating in certain areas but it feels homey and makes it very relaxing. We wanted a relaxing stay and this place was perfect for it.

Incredible location just a few steps from the ocean on Inakahama, the best beach in Yakushima. Beautiful views on the ocean from the room and from the terrace. If you like, you can leave the door open at night to hear the waves. The room is perfectly clean, the staff is super helpful and kind. The Japanese style dinner is absolutely amazing (even comparing to my favorite places in Kyoto), and different every day.In the summer, the Inakahama beach is the best place to see sea turtles nesting and hatching. Nearby is the beautiful Yokogawa Valley where you can swim in a mountain river.

    I liked everything!

The location was amazing. The ocean and beach here is incredible. We wish the weather had of been a little warmer to enjoy the deck and a swim. Listening to the waves crash is the perfect lullaby. The private onsen was lovely too.

The bed was old and uncomfortable - and for the price charged, not ideal. An upgrade on the bed and linen would make this place far more desirable.
