    Pros +

    • Good stay - we booked a 3-person room plus a single bed. Room is big enough for all 4 of us. Hotel has a bath (not onsen) but it was OK. Food is good but if you can pay a little more there are better restaurants in other parts of the island.
    • The room was impressively large for Japan. As usual in Japan everything was spotless. The onsen was very clean and comfortable. The restaurant experience was very Japanese inspired and tasty! The best aspect of the property was Sakura, the hotel front desk host! He saw to our every need from transportation to our hiking spot for the hike to Jomon Sugi and to the ferry in the morning, to hotel amenities and he went above and beyond when I lost my wallet on the bus and he quickly called the bus company and it was returned to me within an hour! If you are going to Yakushima, and you have limited Japanese, stay at the Green hotel you won’t be disappointed!
    • Great ocean views. Close to bus stop for hitting hiking trails. In house restaurant and small onsen. Enough parking.

    Cons -

    • I would love for the hotle to have onsen (spring water) but I suppose the bath is good. The only issue we have was our flight was cancelled due to bad weather so we stayed 4 nights, which is a little too much. 3 nights would be perfect.
    • Duvets a little too heavy!
    • Far from other restaurants/ shops so difficult without car unless you time buses perfectly.

The staff are cordial, friendly and welcoming. They provide all the information in advance and try their best to make your stay comfortable. Very convenient location, clean and well managed facilities. Strongly recommended.

The prix fixe dinners were wonderful, and clever. Who would expect such a talented chef to be on this little island . And each night the courses change.

    Everything was good

The breakfast was very good - it included some dishes prepared hot at the table, as well as a buffet bar. The dinner was good, too. The location was excellent - within a 25 minute walk from the ferry terminal, or a short taxi ride. There was also a bus, but the bus schedule was rather infrequent. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to help us find meals and get to Yakusugi Land, which was our destination. The twin room with ocean view was spacious, beautiful, and very comfortable (including the beds). The common Japanese bath was very clean.

As American tourists, we would have been more comfortable with less attention from the waitstaff during meals. I know that in Japan it's considered polite to be very attentive, but we would have preferred a little more privacy and a little less attention. That said, the waitstaff were all incredibly kind and helpful.

This hotel offers spacious room and excellent sea view from the hotel room. It is a more traditional hotel which has many hotel amenities such as dining hall, public bath, massage chair and souvenir shops. It was quite an interesting experience as I always wanted to stay at one of these more traditional hotels, the amenities are also useful as there is not much activities on Yakushima at night. Staffs at this hotels are also friendly and helpful. I would consider to stay at this hotel again if I happen to go Yakushima again.

The hotel is located slightly further from main business straight of Anbo, thus requires some walking for dining and grocery. This hotel is also a slightly more expensive accommodation option on the island.

The staffs were willing to help and explain everything until you understand. But communication in English might be difficult.Kaiseiki meal for dinner was good and could complete your day nicely after a day-long hike. Also the bento boxes prepared by the hotel were really good and worth for money. They were very convenient if you had to go out super early in the morning like at 4 am. In addition, soap, shampoo and conditioner were very fragrant.

Breakfast was small in variety. The bed was not comfortable.

Very good location, close to the airport, to restaurants, to car rentals and nice sea view. The staff are very helpful and accommodating.

Breakfast can be much improved. The towels should be changed.

Fabulous food and very helpful staff. We liked the location very much and enjoyed each and every meal both breakfast and dinner during our 3 day stay. The public bath is very nice and relaxing and just note it is not Onsen but rather slightly chlorinated. And the view from our oceanview room was incredible!!

The beds are so old you feel the springs in your side very severely. I asked for a mattress topper and thank goodness they had them! Even with the topper the age of the bed could be clearly felt. Also problem with the air conditioner in the room. The thermostat was broken so it just blew out cold air no matter what temperature setting you chose. Their solution? They turned off my ability to turn on the air conditioner at all and told me if I want it cooler to just open the window! Now the window has a lock on it so you can only open it like 3 inches so we were hot for our entire stay! I would give 0 stars for the comfort of the room. Also our laundry machine broke twice while doing our laundry and we had to babysit the machine for an hour and keep calling the front desk to have them come down and restart it for us. Not fun.

The ocean view was beautiful. The staff helpful with the help of the iPad translator. Although the facilities were outdated the eastern style room was worth the experience. Thank you to the staff who helped us!!

The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful with providing suggestions for places to eat (I didn't book the hotel dinner beforehand), and just in general getting around. Breakfast- which I did order was great, and I also used their offer of onigiri lunches to take hiking and they hit the spot. The hotel gift shop and surrounding wood art was also amazing to look at.

    7AlexandrosPosted on: 10-9-2024

Very conveniently located for hiking as it is close to the entry point for the Jomon Sugi trailhead, which hike requires a very early start. I had a car and going from the hotel to the Yakusigi museum at 4:45am took me 8 minutes. The staff are extremely kind and willing to assist with queries, the parking is very spacious and the indoor onsen was enjoyable (there are also massage chairs in the public bath area and free to use) and a good way to relax after a long and wet day of hiking.

The room I was given felt a bit dated but I am sure other rooms (priced higher) must look and feel materially better. Not a problem though as I was only there for sleep. The mattress was as hard as rock (the hardest surface I have slept on to date in my multiple trips to Japan).

    9RoelPosted on: 9-28-2024

    - Very friendly and helpful staff- Ideally located to start the Jomon Sugi hike and possibility to order bento's for breakfast and lunch to bring with you- very spacious room, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a beautiful ocean view from the room.- Excellent and free parking facilities on a spacious parking lot at the property

    - The restaurant isn't the most cozy place and restaurant options in the vicinity are limited

Comfortable and clean. Good breakfast with great views.

For some reason the hotel plays a song at 6am each morning, and it was on an speaker system across the whole complex!

    10ParaPosted on: 5-8-2024

The warm preparation for guests who have just finished the courses. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fair enough. There's a mini store to buy fruits and drinks just located opposite the hotel.

Guests with tattoos are not welcome to use the onsen.
