Riverside Motel

I thought it was a great value. The room was very comfortable.

The “big” screen TV was not as big as I thought I was gonna be, but it was adequate. We weren’t used to the hot and cold water, spigots being separated. We’re used to having a “mixer” but we got used to it.

Great location by the river and close to town. Roomy unit that is a bit dated but comfortable. Good parking right outside the unit and easy to access. Manager / owner was very pleasant and helpful, particularly when the TV remote didn't work.

The TV remote needs replacing.

The location and the available space for parking. Graeme (the manager/host) is a real good sort. Was easy to communicate with, timely and responsive. He was always available and even made some great suggestions for breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Riverside motel to someone travelling on a budget accommodation.

The property is a bit dated and the beds are soft but comfortable. The room does greet you with a warm musty smell but everything works. You get what you pay for so....

Motel was serviced each day which was not expected. Appreciated the comfortable chairs & how there was no traffic noise.

Good location right beside the river and not too far to the centre of town.

Road noise is an issue, but thankfully it quietens down. Heating was an issue.

Although older, our accommodation was clean and comfortable. Its close to the river and an easy walk to the shops. We will be back!!

Comfortable accommodation, fully equipped kitchen, reliable wifi. Great location within walking distance of CBD, restaurants, Saturday market, Art Gallery and Museum. Delightful walks along the banks of the Whanganui River.

Very small TV with basic channels

Location was ok. Staff very nice.

The carpet is a bit worn as was furniture. Bed mattress also too soft.

The person at the front desk (Helen, I think) was absolutely wonderful and extremely welcoming. The location was right by the river and an easy walk to the Saturday market and CBD. Even though the property was dated, as soon as you closed the sliding door, the road noise effectively almost disappeared making it very quiet. It was almost like there was double or triple glazing. There was also absolutely zero noise transfer between units, and I am sensitive to noise so this was brilliant. Parking was directly outside the unit.

Cigarette smoking appeared to be allowed directly outside the sliding doors to the unit. For us, this meant that when we arrived, two people were smoking cigarettes directly next to our front sliding door (ie. only a couple of metres away), then each of the next two times we returned (including at night), at least one of them was smoking in the same place. Smoking directly outside the units should simply not be allowed. Even though the property seemed to be 70s style, surely the smoking "behaviour" didn't need to be.The TV screen was a computer monitor, so very tiny.

Wonderful location, daily room service even though I was staying multiple nights. Obliging reception as they allowed me to keep my bicycle in the room.

With Whanganui being a cyclist's destination, due to the Riverside cycleway and trails further inland, a bicycle storage facility could be a good investment.

Great location and easy to drive in and out. Traffic noise in the evening was not an issue for a relatively busy road.

Double bed was too soft

Excellent location - easy walking distance to many areas - into town, steam boat tour, eateries and cafes. Decor was dated but very clean and tidy - Fresh supplies of linen etc daily. Quiet area - felt very safe. Lovely Host, who was very happy to assist with any queries. Very Comfortable

The rooms were a bit dated but well kept anyway. Good value for money and good location too.

The bed was firm and very comfy but the pillows were pathetically soft and uncomfortable.No flyscreens in windows meant got a few flying insects inside.

Space was great and beds were comfy.

The water pressure was not great, especially with flushing the toilet. I didn't realize the fridge was not on, until the next morning so had to throw out items I had put in there. Had been a reasonably warm night so wasn't prepared to risk eating them.
