Gateway Motor Lodge - Wanganui

The young woman at reception was extremely friendly and helpful. We needed to use the shared kitchen facilities and she was very helpful and showed us how to access everything and then told us not to worry about cleaning up afterwards she said she would do it. Checking in and. out was easy and the young man also very helpful. The road noise is very bad but despite that the room and beds were so comfortable that we slept well.

The motel is right on a very very busy road that goes through from the main road into Whanganui and out to the industrial area. So there are lots of heavy trucks and also car and motorbike noise all through the day and evening and starting again early in the morning. Anyhow we managed to get a good sleep because of the comfy beds and the great shower and bathroom.

Easy to find, smaller room size but good dynamics. Good bed and linen. Fresh raspberries and chocolate on arrival. Beautiful and clean. Could do with a small table between lounge chairs

Unfortunately road noise was excessive but otherwise very tidy units.

Double glazing would help with the road noise.

Location was fantastic and parking was great. Room was huge, spacious, well lain out and decorated. It was comfortable, bedding was so silky smooth, incredibly clean and had lots of nice little touches - mix trail for the room, bread for toast. Now, there were tiny little touches that nailed it for me, the remote was Velcro attached right below the TV, the wifi login was on a fancy wooden panel on the wall that looked like part of the decor, glass engraved bottles with chilled water in the fridge, and an in shower mat hung on the back of the bathroom door was great. The staff were so, so lovely - really kind, really helpful. I honestly had a 10/10 stay, will definitely book again!

Host was very accommodating. I had a morning procedure at the Hospital nearby and he allowed me to park up early. Room was clean and there was even a welcome note with local information. Short walk to Wanganui Hospital a big bonus.

Bit of road noise which is unavoidable considering locations but bearable.

Well designed spacious room. Easy car parking. Very good shower, super clean and brand new!Kitchen was functional and well stocked and our bed was very comfy.

Great location close to town and easy to find. Parking onsite was convenient. Friendly staff with a lot of personal touches, like a welcome letter with restaurant recommendations and activity suggestions.

I liked everything, great service from the front desk and the cleaning ladies amazing customer service definitely be back to stay here nice and cheap

There was nothing I didn’t like everything was good as I imagined

Staff were very welcoming and the room spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed some very pleasant walks along the riverbank, which can be accessed via the side street beside the motel.

There is quite a bit of traffic noise from Heads Rd during the day but it was fine in the evenings.

Staff were very friendly, left notes to enjoy our stay and provided an updated weather report each day. Had suggestions on what to do, where to eat etc. Room smelt and felt very clean.

It is located on a busier road, but didn’t seem to bother too much.

The unit was clean and bed comfortable and the staff very nice and helpful also complimentary offerings brings me back to the way motels use to be.

I would like to say a big thankyou for offering to do our laundry, we were not expecting that, and when we got back from dinner it was back in our room all dry and folded, that was so special and much appreciated..

The rubber seal on the fridge door needs repairing as the door wouldn't close and the milk had gone off, ..

Great bonus to have some bread, butter amd jam in the room.
