    Pros +

    • How friendly the guy at the front was! I think his name was James? I also loved the high ceilings, old trim, and wonderful woodwork around the place.
    • Comfortable beds, large bath, great views over the city. Beautiful architecture and gardens.
    • Being a converted convent I wasn't sure what to expect but the rooms were done up nicely and included a big bathroom with separate bath which we enjoyed. The hallways were the typical old timber building with creaks which really just added to the charm, as did the tiny lift which creaked and knocked on its way up and down but was safe (and stairs are there if you get claustrophobic). There are no dinner or breakfast facilities, but it was close enough to ample choices for both. It was something different but memorable for our holiday.

    Cons -

    • Walls are a little thin, but to be expected in a historical property such as this.
    • Shared balcony in front of the room that could be used by all guests during daytime, this means you essentially have to keep the blinds closed as you can see into the room.
    • Lift was slow and a little dodgy as it shook everytime it got to a floor. The rooms are not sound proof at all, we could hear conversations. I'd imagine it would be terrible if it was a busy season.I stayed here for two different nights across the week and received two different rooms. They had different advantages and disadvantages. They had different layouts, with massive differences like bathroom amenities, or tables and seating.

Room was comfy and spacious with beautiful views over the city. Spa bath was an extra bonus. Well stocked mini bar. Jason was super friendly and helped with some local dinner suggestions as it was a public holiday.

The staff was really nice and gave us detailed instructions. The rooms themselves were relatively comfortable. Parking was easy and safe. Had very basic amenities but enough for a day or two stay.

    A genuine 100% BAD experience.

If you enjoy arriving at a hotel only to find the doors locked, no staff in sight, and your “welcome” message sent 30 minutes before closing time, then this is the perfect place for you!Late check-in? Don’t even think about it. Unless, of course, you’re willing to pay a special “call-out fee”, because nothing says hospitality like charging extra instead of simply helping a stranded guest.I especially appreciated being left outside in the rain, marked as a “no-show,” and still charged in full. Truly a masterclass in customer care, if the goal is to ensure guests never return.Congratulations to the management, particularly the manager himself: you’ve managed to turn one booking into a lifetime commitment… to never book here again.

Beautiful location with a view. Lovely large rooms with everything needed for a short stay. No kitchen but there is a fridge, kettle, crockery and cutlery. We were only here for one night but could easily have stayed for longer.

Refillable shampoo and conditioner to save plastic waste of one use supplied products.

    Abomination

Unwelcoming stubborn manager who wouldn’t accept the e-version of the credit card for the security bond. He made me go to the city (after a long day) to find cash otherwise he wasn’t gonna let me check in to the room that I pre-paid for or refund it. Old property with windows (facing a brick wall) you can’t open, peeling paint, squeaky floorboards (you can hear every step of the guests above you). I wouldn’t be given the keys until a robotic trained teenage girl showed how to turn the key in the keyhole (without braking it) and how to use the AC remote control, threatening every step of the way to charge for any damage to the property. What an abomination. The whole experience.

I stayed two nights when I was travelling to an artist camp in the Tarkine wilderness. The hotel is surrounded by contemporary art, James spent some time telling me about this collection of work which was very informative. The staff were very helpful & welcoming. I Loved the bath, both rooms were very clean, modern kettle & micro wave & ice cubes in the fridge very unexpected. The second night the room was large, near the lift & very quiet., as a senior person this was great. The first night had city views also with a large modern clean bathroom

Large colonial buildings up keep is difficult. So there is nothing to report here, loved it

Good hotel really close to town and the Gorge. A bit dated but a beautiful building, very clean and lovely staff.

Lovely property in an excellent location, clean, elegant & comfortable with everything you need. Very hospitable helpful staff - thank you!

    Nothing, it was excellent.

I traveled to an artist camp in the wilderness & looking forward to a bath, rest & quiet. It was all of those things & more. The micro wave & modern kettle & fridge was unexpected & a bonus. The room had beautiful light & was clean, quiet & a large room & bathroom. Being close to a lift was a bonus. I would stay thereagain

Very good value for my budget. Old buildings take a lot of up keep, so I would say that they are doing a great job. The garden was lovely & well maintained.

Very impressed! Excellent value for money and affordable. Even has microwave, cutlery and bowls etc and free Netflix. We had a spa bath and verandah too. Also a separate communal lounge with books and games. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed and good quality linen and towels. Good parking too. Would definitely stay again.

    Nothing to not like.

Always enjoy staying at Auldington... close to CBD but easy to access by car and foot. Plenty of on-site parking. Quiet location. Two good places to eat nearby... within 250m walking distance. Efficient friendly service from James. Good communications. Clean, well-appointed room. Good size. Elevator access. Safe. Secure. Very well priced.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. Boutique style accommodation.

Nothing really to fault. Basic style accommodation with little quirks as expected.

Lovely staff & great room. Even had access to balcony. Made us feel welcome and at home. Great bath too. Very clean & easy to get to everywhere in Launceston

An absolutely beautiful old converted convent. I had the bath suite with a deep soaking tub which was a real treat. It is also a short walk to the CBD past some historical buildings.
