Oaks Townsville Hotel

Was very disappointed to not get the second night that we were to stay, to be transferred to another night - even if it was a Monday night we didn’t care. We had to leave as the Cyclone was hovering & very heavy rain. We live 80 mins away & get cut off very easily from a heavy downpour just promptly told NO you have to forgo the night - as we had already paid for it upfront. Yeah well it cost us one night for the price of two.

Parking provided, staff were nice and accommodating. Room incredibly spacious.

The TV controls were a little odd:- needed to flick switch to turn TV off- hotel landing screen would appear any time you pressed off button- didn't have many news channel options

As we were last minute, we had first floor accommodation with no view, but it didn't matter - the room was very nice - secure- clean, cool, beautiful drapes, bed good, bathroom good, plenty of space :-) LOVE the complimentary undercover car parking too.

I reported that the kitchen sink was leaking into the cupboard underneath (these things happen); The stove worked fine, but H/L indicators were worn off, which made it tricky. Would be better with complimentary packets of salt/pepper.

Serious hygiene issues: cockroach in fridge, dirty bedding, unhelpful staff.

My recent stay at Oaks Townsville Hotel was very disappointing due to serious hygiene concerns. Upon arrival, I found a cockroach inside the refrigerator and later noticed that the bed sheets were visibly dirty. I reported these issues immediately to the front desk (staff member: Le Laruna), who confirmed a room change was possible but refused to offer any refund or compensation. I also requested the manager’s contact information (Chirag) but was told it could not be shared.I understand that operational issues can occur, but the lack of cleanliness and unwillingness to take accountability left a very poor impression. These are not minor inconveniences—they raise serious concerns about hygiene and guest care standards.I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses both the housekeeping and customer service issues to prevent similar experiences for future guests.

Great location, room was clean

The stove didn't work and balcony was tiny

Good location near restaurants and away from busy traffic. Had a gym. Kind staff. Key card required to enter elevator. Clean.

Room was quite worn and smelled terrible.

We have stayed many times before. Location ideal. We leave the car in carpark and walk to one of the many various and varied restaurants down the road. We have family in Townsville so visit for all sorts of reasons. Once we spend a bit more time up there the stadium on a good day is just a short walk from the hotel.

When we first got there, I noticed that the curtain was hanging loose from the railing. There were no extra clips to tuck it back up. By the second day, a staff member had rectified the situation. The time before we had only one bedside light and the other, nowhere to be seen. That too was rectified.

Loved being on the top floor. The bed was super comfy. Quiet and peaceful environment. Great room. Lots of space.

The staff included housekeeping were friendly and professional

The shower wasn't the greatest but did the job, a fly screen on the sliding door would be nice.

This was our second time staying at the Oaks Townsville Metropole Hotel, and it was just as delightful as the first! The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, offering a perfect balance of coziness and atmosphere. We especially loved the spectacular view from the balcony — waking up to the serene waterfront and mountains was truly a treat. Everything felt fresh and inviting. The front desk team was friendly and welcoming, and having a great restaurant just a few steps from the hotel made it so convenient. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Townsville — My husband and I will definitely be back again!

very clean, quiet, very comfortable bed and pillow, wonderful shower had dishwasher, washing machine and dryer and microwave and hotplatewe had an upper level room which i would recommend

Location to desired activities.

Beds not comfortable as when staying as a couple they push 2 beds together and in our case they were different heights.
