Pros +
- Staff were helpful with each issue raised
- The location is great and works well for my business needs. I am looking for a hotel I can use on a regular basis within the area, this hotel is in a lovely village with a great pub just down the road,
- Location was in a lovely village with cute coffee shops and pretty setting
Cons -
- Hot water was intermittent
- Unfortunately the booking we completed via Booking.Com was not honored by the hotel. This was questioned and staff were provided with documented evidence of the booking made. There was little interest in meeting the booking requirements or assisting in any way. Disappointing.
- I stayed on a Saturday night in half term as my son had an athletics camp at the university. The hotel was nothing like described. It was run down and obviously trying to save money at every opportunity - restaurant closed (despite celebrating their amazing food on their website, but apparently not busy enough to be running any more - also no room service), bar closed (no license), light bulbs removed from the beautiful original light fittings in the hall so it was in pitch blackness with small wall light sensors as you passed. No hot water (taps or shower) in the en-suite (another guest was complaining about the same issue). Old room furniture in need of a good clean. Bedding clean but divan on show and grubby. Beautiful curtains/window drapes, but filthy. The breaking point was when I went to wipe up what I thought was water from the bathroom floor - but was urine - not mine! After being in my room less than an hour, I checked out explaining my reasons. The person at reception (I think the only employee on shift) gave me a full refund there and then. I luckily found a room at the travel lodge in the town, basic, not pretty, but clean with a hot shower.

The staff are all very friendly and eager to make your stay a good one.
I didn't like the approach to my room I was directed up some stairs and through some doors. The corridor was pitch black until I took a few steps in. This was quite unnerving despite understanding this is likely because of energy saving.
Beautiful location by the River in a lovely village.
Appears to have been a very nice place about 30 years ago but feels very tired and dated. Ordered soup and a roll from the dining room. The roll was so hard you could have could have thrown it across the room.
room was fine, bed comfortable and plenty of storage.
Bathroom was dated.room wasn't very clean. bar/restaurant closed early.short staffed - waited a while to be checked in.service very slow at Breakfast

The hotel offers a wonderful blend of charm and comfort. Our room was immaculate, the WiFi was fast, and breakfast featured fresh local produce. We spent afternoons visiting nearby historic villages and scenic walking paths. Already planning our next visit!
Stayed for a special occasion and everything exceeded expectations. Gorgeous countryside views from our room, an incredible breakfast, and staff who genuinely cared. We also enjoyed a trip to a local historic site just minutes away. Can’t wait to come back!
If you want tranquility, this is it. Woke up to rolling green fields, had a flawless breakfast, and spent the day walking nearby nature trails. The free parking was so convenient, and the cozy lounge was ideal for an evening glass of wine.
From the warm welcome to the final checkout, everything was perfect. The hotel is beautifully kept, the rooms spotless, and the staff genuinely care. Breakfast was generous and tasty. Took a day to explore the historic canal system nearby—highly recommend!
Attended a family wedding and couldn’t have asked for better accommodation. Beautifully presented rooms, staff who went above and beyond, and a breakfast that was the talk of the weekend. The local area offered plenty to explore for those staying longer.
The countryside setting is stunning! We stayed for three nights and loved waking up to fresh air and birdsong. Rooms were spotless, staff were incredibly friendly, and breakfast was a feast. Spent an afternoon exploring charming local pubs and woodland trails.
Booked for a corporate off-site and everyone loved it. Reliable WiFi, great meeting spaces, and staff who were always on hand. The food was excellent, and in the evenings we enjoyed the quiet gardens. Fantastic alternative to the usual city hotels!
Stopped over during a long road trip and couldn’t have chosen better. Convenient free parking, strong WiFi, and the softest bedding made this an easy, comfortable stay. The peaceful countryside setting helped us unwind completely before heading back on the road.
On a short break and this place ticked all the boxes. Bright, clean rooms with modern touches, delicious full English breakfast, and plenty of cozy corners to relax in. Took a short drive to see a historic steam railway—such a treat!
Stayed here for an anniversary and loved every second. The cozy room had a gorgeous countryside view, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and breakfast was divine. We enjoyed exploring the quaint market towns nearby. Perfect mix of relaxation and charm!
I was impressed by the warm hospitality from the moment I arrived. The staff were attentive, the room was spotless, and the free parking made everything simple. After a restful night, I took a walk to a beautiful nature reserve just minutes away.
