Cons -
- we purchased the bar use offer £30 for discount price of £25 each. Unfortunately the bar staff didn’t know or did know how it works and we incurred additional costs for food and drinks, he even charged us for a free drink that came with meals. We should have checked the pro format before we left but there was only one member of staff on reception and she was run off her feet so she asked if she could email the invoice. When it landed it was incorrect, and despite several emails to them , messages left for the Manager or Deputy Manager nobody has from the Village Hotel has bothered to contact us. We have now passed this to the Village Complaints Department but i won’t hold my breath. Needless to say we will not be staying at a Village Hotel anytime soon.
- we had quite a few minor issues that made our stay less enjoyable.for example facilities -*we were told upon speaking that you had gluten free options for my celiac partner... those options were salad only.* we paid for early check in yet still had to wait till gone 3pm as room wasn't ready.* we were given one towel for 2 guests so had to request more.*upon arriving we used the spa, but when we went back to our room we realised the rooms toiletries i.e. shampoo, conditioner, body wash were all empty so my partner had to do a last Minuit supply run ( which is partly our fault for forgetting the toiletries but website does say they come with room* there were no plugs by the bed for laptop etc. and also no USB charging points anywhere in the room so also had to buy a plug for my partners phone.* shower leaked drenching the floor so ended up having to get way more towels than we should of needed.* we booked 2 nights and on the first morning we woke to find cleaners trying to enter. we explained we were there for 2 days and wanted to have a lie in so no cleaners needed. we were then disturbed 2 more times before having to come downstairs to show physical proof to reception ( who were lovely) to prove the two nights stay. we then went back to our room only to be disturbed again because the second night they'd put us in a different double room and said we either had to move all our stuff to the other room or pay an additional £15 to stay in the same room which we did. by which time after being disturbed a total of 5 times, that really put a dampener on our valentines plans to relax and unwind.*lighting was terrible, 1 small lamp either side of the bed and a bathroom light was all we had so it made doing simple tasks like hair and make up quite difficult.
- We was in the club room which stated views of the nature reserve, unfortunatley we was greeeted to a roof surrounded by a full square of windows looking directly into our room,, blinds had to be kept closed our whole stay, we had no sleep due to a pole rattling and banging on the roof all night/morning, we had a couple shouting and screaming on the same landing,Our bed was huge but again disapointed as its 2 singles pushed together with a big gao down the side covered by sheets, we basically sleot seperate as the dint was uncomfatable. We tried to attend the sauna and steam room but it was so over crowded we couldnt even step in, hotel is open to public so unfortunatly the guest that are staying can barley use the facilities, sunday morning was like a swim lesson for children, again could not enter the pool. We paid 150 pounds to get no sleep and no use of facilities, we just couldnt wait to get home.

Easy to locate, staff are cheerful and helpful
A sofa to sit since it is two people instead of just one chair
Good food and rooms
The noise outside the room was terrible
Staff and workers friendly
Was on the first floor and music in bar was too loud
Great location
Breakfast was awful not enough staff, no plates, breakfast items ran out very quickly
Me and my partner come here a lot. Everything is there. A bar, restaurant, swimming pool, gym, sauna the lot. A beautiful nature reserve right next to it with beautiful views. Our favourite spot to go.
We love it. Nothing bad to say
Vibrant well run and maintained hotel
Cost of darts at the weekend
Choice and quality of food for breakfast was very good. Area around the bar and evening food are excellent
Rooms could be cleaned more regularly and updated, there was a gap around the window frame that allowed a lot of cold air and noise through. Rooms are quite dark, better lighting would be nice
The hotel is lovely the room was very clean and the bed comfortable
We booked as it said spa hotel , both days the pool was just so full of children, couldn’t relax as there was just kids having swimming lessons and of course having a time with there family’s , but if I had known that it would of been full of children to the point you couldnt swim a length , I would not have come in I relax at this spa hotel also had room service once we decided to leave the pool as it was so noisy ! We ordered loaded chips and it came with one spoon of chilli on ? And they were £9 ! And the chips where not cooked and some still raw
Comfortable and clean, staff were excellent Our room had a nice view of the power plant
Our room was unexpectedly noisy, the bins were directly below which were emptied early in the morning. The handbasin was partially blocked - we did notify the staff
clean comfy bed
Room was far from reception. up and down and up stairs. there was a wedding on so the corridors were loud until 3am. people knocking on doors. the walls of the room are to thin. I could hear people having sex upstairs! I could hear people talking next door at 2amthe mattress topper did not fit the bed. no plug sockets for phone charger by the bed. no coat hook for coat by the door area.
Sky TV and comfortable beds and the bathroom was very modern
Nothing at all
Convenient for our needs (4th stay)
No phone in bedroom so no way of contacting reception. Cannot phone the hotel to make a booking.
Good location for us, lovely rooms, comfortable beds, coffee bar, excellent food in the restaurant.
Dinner was excellent, but when we tried to order dessert we couldn’t, as the kitchen shut at half nine, we should have been told this, and we could have enjoyed our meals even more.
Location
No usb ports bed very uncomfortable very thin walls listening to the next room all night
Location
Twin bed is small. No housekeeping from 24 to 26 dec during our stay.
very helpful staff on arrival, clean room, room temp was nice and warm, comfy bed, good tea and coffee facility, bathroom clean, room very spacious.
someone had booked into one of our rooms before we had arrived, the staff didn't know how, so they had to find me another room, this made me start stressing as we were on a time schedule and i then didn't have very long to get ready to leave for a works event. Sat waiting for a room to be ready for me. This ruined my evening a little. The lights in the room could have been brighter or had the facility to make them brighter, you could only see properly in the bathroom mirror.
All staff were helpful and friendly
Only had one towel provided but booked for two
