Pros +
- The hotel was exceptional, staff extremely friendly abd the breakfast was outstanding. We’re going back to Norway next year & have rebooked the Grand Hotek.
- Mostly all
- Good location and good restaurant (diner and breakfast!), friendly staff
Cons -
- Can’t think of anything I didn’t like, maybe the shower was too small but that was about it.
- After paying over 3600 nkr had to pay 150 nkr for parking. When you pay so much for a room parking should be includedIn addition there is no disabled parking. Closest is across the road.
- Shower curtain in bath is not pleasant. Heavy and thick bedcover, window only opens a bit results in poor sleep in a warm room.

We stayed at this hotel during our family vacation between Germany, Denmark, and Norway. Our room was located in a quiet corner and the bed was comfortable. Through our window, we could see a small garden and some houses. The hotel is located in front of a marina and a beach area, where some brave children enjoyed a late afternoon swim. There were several parking possibilities: free street parking and private. We chose to stay at the hotel's private parking because the price was right and offered extra security. The promenade leads to one of the houses of the famous painter, Edvard Munch. We enjoyed walking on the promenade. On the same street where his house was located, today a museum, were copies of some of his paintings showing the place, that inspired them. During our evening walk through town, we talked with one of the locals, who gave us some tips of affordable dinners and bars around the area. We chose to eat at the hotel's restaurant, where we enjoyed our delicious dinner while watching the sunset. All the personnel were friendly and very professional. I found interesting the different rooms and corners in the hotel, where one could sit, enjoy a drink, read a book, or simply view the sunset. On our floor was a small counter with free fruits, coffee, water, and tea for the guests.
Driving to this hotel is tricky because the streets are very narrow. But once you are there, it is worth it!We had some minor problems that were tackled immediately in a professional and satisfactory manner.
Great breakfast and great Staff. Always a pleasure vacationing there
Bathroom heated floor not working.
Not many hotels left in Norway where tradition meets contenporary, style meet comfort, and where service meet quality in food and amenities. We enjoyed the short stay very much!
We loved the property that comes with a bit old fasion building that is quaint for sure. No really shortfalls , and love the well equipped suite with all we need
very, very charming people; showed us all possibilities of rooms (we arrived at winter storm and not all rooms were very cosy); felt immediatly comfortable and familiar with the hotel.
due to the weather it was very cold in restaurant and bar
Beautiful hotel and the room was great with a lovely sea view. Very good breakfast with lots of choice.
There was a door to the neighbouring room (to allow for joint rooms if required). This was badly insulated so we could hear the neighbours a lot!
Comfortable beds, big room, great Service. We could not make it for breakfast, we asked for a lunch Box, it was no problem.
No blinds for the Windows, it was really bright in the night.
Breakfast and location
Old bathroom. low quality pillows in bed.
Excellent breakfast. Good cleaning
Location
Good location-small Norway resort village
As usually in Norway-weather..:).. A little overpriced.
Staff in reception is friendly ! He told me a lot of history about this hotel and Edvard Munch.
Location
Reception staff seemed poorly informed and the facilities are in a serious need of an upgrade!
We had two dogs with us and the corridor for dog owners was very well located and the rooms very nice.
Seaside views and relatively reasonable prices.
a little bit far.
Nice, good breakfast.
We were shocked when upon arrival it turned out that we had to pay an additional 100 NOK for the hotel parking. On Booking we saw free parking. The lady at the reception informed us that yes, we can park for free a block away on the street! We had a lot of luggage,we arrived at night and we were tired,so we paid... In my opinion the hotel is misleading both, booking.com and customers. Otherwise, the bathroom is old, shower in the bathtub with the plastic cover and the noise from the sewage system and mold between bathroom door and the jamb!!
great hotel in an outstanding location. lovely little town. excellent breakfast with wide choice. bit pricey but the hotel matches the price. staff were very friendly and welcoming. secure parking for the motorbikes
Very good breakfast. The location of the hotel, very good. The staff was very nice.
I had a great stay. Room was great, and bed was good. Very good breakfast :-)Man in reception was very friendly.
