Pros +
- Excellent breakfast and attentive staff.
- Location…near main cafes, shops etc
- Had to rely on either the side table lamps or accept the flickering center light, which made the room dark
Cons -
- The fire alarm went off 3 times during my 4 night stay.
- Needs modernisation…Bedroom we stayed in was tatty…Bathroom very tatty!
- Didn't like the fact that I was allocated a room that was being used by another guest, ie double booked and had to settle for a double room opposed to a twin room which I had originally requested. Had no kettle to make tea in the morning, had a ironing board but no iron, the tap to the hand basin was running all night as it could not be turned off, the shower door was broken, the shower was not that clean, water pressure low and not that hot the.

The location .The restaurant menu was brilliant and good value
The room was tired though the bed was very comfortable. The ensuite was poor, no plug in the sink, the shower had only cold water. The whole room needed to be replaced with a pumped hot water system. Shower fittings were rusty and needed to be replaced
Friendly staff, good location and price.
The pub the food the staff
Dirty bathroom,blocked sink
We stayed at The Greyhound over the Christmas while visiting family in the village. It was ideal for what we wanted, and the staff were really helpful and welcoming.
Staff were pleasant and cheerful. It’s a great location, lovely old building, authentic Wood beams in the bedroom. Restaurant and food are good, and the bar area is nice.
The rooms were generally in need of significant maintenance, not particularly clean (dusty, toilet seats were dirty on arrival), kettle but no coffee. Main issue was that because this is an old building, there is no sound insulation from downstairs, so we heard every sound in the busy pub including football, TV, cheering, until closure. There were also people cleaning and talking through till 2 am, which was clearly audible from the bedroom. Not a place for a good night sleep.
Location I love, plenty of shops , the style and tutor of hotel is lovely pub lovely and quaint , food smelt delicious , very quiet at night in room which was a bonus, only let down was standard of cleaning it was very very poor floor was not hoovered bathroom floor not hoovered or mopped sticky stain on floor in bathroom toilet not cleaned bathroom very poor standard, ledge outside windows full of leaves and brambles would take 5 Minutes to clear it up , beautiful hotel but very disappointed with the lack of cleaning . Bed very comfy but the dust that came off it not acceptable.
All of the above
The food and choice is excellent and the staff in the restaurant very attentive. Curry was excellent.
I booked a Deluxe Double but was put in a Standard Double! This was not what I was expecting but assume they had double booked, no reason given. Drinks were good, they had Mulled Wine on the bar, we tried a glass at the end of the evening, it was £12 .. luke warm and tasteless, bottom of the cold pot! Shame really. More care needed.
As an evening venue the pub was nice with friendly staff.
Requested a room with a bathtub and was told it was approved but the room didn’t have a bathtub. No possibility of changing room due to undisclosed on going works in the other rooms. The door to the building was left propped open for workers access overnight. Didn’t feel particularly safe with that. The couple in the room next door were vigorously enjoying a night away (if you get my drift) and there were no other rooms to swap to available. Asked the manager to politely ask them (gone 1am) to keep it down but he refused to help so had to do it myself just to get some sleep. Very thin walls. Would likely not stay again.
The staff waited for us, as a late Check inand another gent (Another Booking) Turned up same time
2 x Twin Rooms Booked, A water Leak Caused 2 Male Collogues to Share A Double. lucky my staff Didn't go home
Our room was lovely and warm with original features like old beams, and fireplace and quirky floor and creaks that just ooze of history and past lives. There's nothing dull about the Greyhound!!
There was nothing we didn't like
The room was lovely beamed with a very large comfortable, the facilities were perfect however there is an annoying green flashing light above the the bed on the ceiling which is very bright distracting for sleeping this could do with repositioning if it is necessary or covering up.... also the bathroom though functional needs upgrading one sink was unusable and the other the taps wouldn't turn off fully also the water could do with being hotter, but it was good value for money and I am happy to recommend the Greyhound and would stop again!!!!

There was nothing we didn't like?
Bad
The rooms were dirty the staff especially manager with extremely rude and confrontational to other guests also we booked to stay there for one night but end up leaving straight away and check it into a different hotel booking.com will not give us a refund as they said it was up to the property
Good location.
Quite noisy and not very clean, mucky/stained pillows and headboard.
Nice place to stay, safe were really welcoming and the food was great.
Great place to recommend for an enemy
I appreciate this is a room above a pub but there were doors slamming late into the night and early in the morning. Some sort of creature scurrying around in the roof space making noise through the night. Terrible water pressure and the water didn't get very hot. Ripped, mouldy shower curtain in the window of the bathroom, a doorknob instead of a plug in the bath, cobwebs and hairs, all seals around taps are mouldy - no water in the room so bought a little 330 ml bottle at the bar that cost £3.50
The bar and restaurant with a choice of pub food or good quality Indian food was excellent. Room good value for the price.
I stayed in the Deluxe Double, nice historic room with a comfy bed but facing the main road, so noisy first thing. Shower pressure was low which was a shame. Most annoying thing was a flashing green light on a box high on the ceiling, this went on all night, it would be a good idea to put tape over the LED.
