About
This hotel dates from the Tudor period, but the inside reflects the very best in modern design. It is featured in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, as well as the TV show Midsomer Murders. With hundreds of years of history (Oliver Cromwell once stayed here), The Kings Arms Hotel is ideal for a romantic getaway. A relaxed lounge bar features a log fire, while the original part of the building has executive rooms with large desks, broadband access and flat-screen TV. The Kings Arms is in the heart of Old Amersham, known for its exclusive boutiques and antiques shops. Food and drink is served in the Kings Bar & Bistro, which is located in the same building as the hotel. There is a local golf course, while Ascot and Windsor racecourses are within easy reach. Amersham is on the London Underground network, 50 minutes from Wembley Stadium and just over an hour from central London (Bank stop). The Kings Arms Hotel is 10 minutes’ drive from the M40 and M25.

Cons -
- We were surprised that nobody had offered to take our suitcases to the room upon arrival, especially as the stairs were a little precarious as you would expect from a 400 year old building. When we entered the room, it was very cold. The heating systmem was not working. Instead, there was a temporary mobile radiator unit in its place - but it hadn't been turned on. We set the radiator up ourselves and left to go for a walk and by the time we returned, the room was still cold. We asked for another radiator which they delivered to the room on our behalf and all was good by the time we returned from a second walk. The bathroom however remained cold and it appeared that the heating in there was not working either. We wanted to have a coffee and chat in the dining / lounge area of the hotel before going to dinner in town, but there was a 'wake' party in the room and no accommodating the hotel guests, so we went out to a cafe instead. Slightly disorganised but shedding no blame on those poor folk who had just attended a funeral.
- Noisy carpark road surface
- The receptionist struggled to say hello. The waitress at breakfast brought my breakfast and my husband’s breakfast arrived 10 minutes later. I left my charger and contacted the hotel 9 times. Each time someone was going to call me back with an update. 3 weeks on, no charger or phone call with an update. Would I stay again- definitely not!

When I booked I was not aware it was such an important place, I liked the old typical pub look in the photos and the modern rooms and parking available on the back. While there I realised it was a reference place for local weddings, and was even a movie setting for famous films. Amersham is a very nice place, and on the edge of London and one hour away by tube.
The property is set in a beautiful quiet location. Rooms were on the small side but clean and comfortable.

Rainfall Shower didn’t work properly had to use handheld. Room looked like it needed finishing off where alterations had been made. Had to request bath towels as not in room. Cleaner turned up when getting ready for wedding in venue??!! Limited breakfast choice. So no replenishment as we turned them away. Why didn’t pop in after we had met at the bar I do not know.Received a call to say not received payment but this was first thing done before keys were given to us at check in on Saturday 12th.
Beautiful old building with lovely staff. Bed extremely uncomfortable. Need to have bigger bed where you can’t feel springs of bed.
The hotel is very attractive and in a lovely setting. The room was in a modern building but was comfortable and nicely furnished. The bathroom was new and everything was in excellent order. The food in the restaurant was good if unexceptional. Breakfast was very good.
Our room was of showroom standard - absolutely first class in every respect. The lounge area with its open fire was unexpected and welcoming. The staff were friendly and efficient at all times. The breakfast was great!
Easy parking, room as expected. Restaurant area very pleasant.
The bar was disappointing. There was a group of locals in there dominating the bar area and using foul language which the bar staff did not attempt to moderate. We ordered soup in the bar area which arrived tepid, although this was corrected immediately when we pointed it out.
Pretty little setting with great choice of restaurants in high street . The pub is really welcoming with great food and drinks and a proper cosy feel . Comfortable bed and nice decoration in room s , with new bathrooms.Only negative , which they can’t help is the air conditioning is noisy with the fan sporadically. But that’s the only thing .
Location and quality of hotel room.
Staff emptying bins at 4am was a little annoying and tinned mushrooms on the breakfast was slightly surprising.
Breakfast was good, the room was comfortable. The first night the wifi was not working in my room but they fixed it the next day.
Absolutely lovely property Amersham and very well located. It was clean and the facilities/amenities were all one needs in a room.
Gorgeous room, loved the bath after a long hike. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, probably the best I’ve had at a hotel. Nice and quiet, large spacious room. Amazing location.
Staff were excellent and the property was very clean and tidy. Our room was lovely and breakfast was good.
The windows in our suite are single glazed due to the age of the property but the curtains did not block out the really bad drafts coming through. They did not reach the sill so I had to use the bath towels rolled up to block the draft coming through at the bottom. Also where our room was, was directly over the kitchen so was very noisy at times with voices and the emptying of bottles into bins.
We requested a ground floor not as stated. It was only noisy because it was Christmas Eve so actually good to see how popular it was
All good .
Nice place, beautiful village
We didn’t get the room we booked. They sold it to others then gave us an ‘upgrade’ to a horrible room.
Staff were lovely, check-in very easy and comfy bed!
