    Pros +

    • Location
    • We didnt really use the facilities of the hotel other than as a place to sleep. Room, beds and shower all perfectly fine though.
    • Lovely old listed pub right in the centre of town and great location for walking in the surrounding hills.

    Cons -

    • No heating in the bathroom
    • Breakfast as an option would have been welcome.
    • Cleanliness was the main issue. Bedsheets and pillow case were unwashed, with hair and skin on them. I asked for these to be changed. I was told that I was wrong but they did at least change them. The shower didnt work. They dont offer breakfast.

Church Stretton is an ideal centre for walking in the Shropshire Hills.

The staff were indifferent, not one smile from a single member over the two days.My friend's bed had dandruff on the pillow and pubic hairs in the bed from the previous guest. When we complained, we were greeted with hostility and a loud "stage whisper" from the manager "they will have to wait for their food if I have to change the bed".The carpet in my room was filthy and hadn't been hoovered. They don't provide breakfast!!!!After an indifferent meal on the first night, we decided to eat elsewhere on the second. Returning to the Buck's Head at c9.30 for a nightcap, the hotel was in darkness and locked up.We couldn't possibly recommend it.

Room was large and warm, good location.

Room smelt, had to buy a candleCurtain hooks missingNot cleaned very well, beams dusty, hairs on bathroom floor near bin.Towels and bed linen very tired. No clean cups put in room for second night, had to ask for clean ones.Had to ask for jug of drinking water and glasses.Mattress bases visible and sheets were either too big and wrinkled up or barely covered the mattress. Some mould round the bathDirty toilet brush

Was decent for the price, staff were friendly. Check in and out was easy.

Place looking a bit worn around the edges and beer was a bit dodgy. 3 of us had very bad guts the next day.

Location great and friendly staff and service.

Nothing, will stay again, and will check out the menu next time.

The location was good, close to everything.

I recently stayed at a place where the bedding left much to be desired. The dated and uncomfortable quilt lacked any vibrancy, and the lifeless pillows did little to improve the experience. The quilt cover, with its outdated design and improper placement (put on upside down) , added to the disappointment. Clean towels were a relief, but they carried a damp, unpleasant scent. Lunch at the bar featured garlic mushrooms that were unfortunately burnt and chewy, leaving a lingering and unpleasant taste. A small suggestion: investing in new bedding could greatly enhance the overall experience without breaking the bank. Certainly, investing in welcoming bedding can transform the entire ambiance and make guests feel more comfortable.

    Cosy room and pub. Quiet

    Bit tatty, no breakfast facilities.

    Close proximity to town.

The guy who gave us the keys was new so he gave us 3 keys and didn't know which room was which. It was fine, but wasn't the most comforting welcome. Also room four was super creepy. Two people we were with swapped rooms due to the creepiness. I'm not sure what can be done about this, but I know 2 people didn't sleep all night due to the church bell going off every 15 mins. Is there a way of having a word with the church peeps to sort that? It seems a bit redic to ring the bells that often, unless the ghosts like it...

Fantastic position in heart of viiage.Very shabby . Expected old world charm v v disappointed. Towels damp , towel rail not working . Bathroom in need of upgrade.

Nobody around at 9-30 despite 10-00am check out . No breakfast available. Cafe next door said guests frequently came to them for breakfast as hotel failed to provide although booked and paid for!!We left at 11-00 and still no staff and doors locked.

    Very poor

Unacceptable. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned. We spent 45 minutes disinfecting it.

    5GrahamPosted on: 10-11-2023

    No breakfast available

almost zero contact to hotel staff, Next morning no staff, not even a key repository to leave the key in (so I left it in the room)

    1AdamPosted on: 10-3-2023

Nothing. Not as described and rude staff

Not a hotel. Not even a bed and breakfast as they no longer provide breakfast

    2MarkPosted on: 9-29-2023

It a lot except the location

Too expensive, no breakfast and closed at 8pm even to residents

    3AntheaPosted on: 9-29-2023

    I wont go back

No staff were on the premises in the morning so I got no breakfast. The receptionist told me I needed to pay to park in a car park despite parking being free in the road
